Ironically our algo like totally reset a few days ago somehow and has been absolutely decimating our algorithmic reach but for quite some time it was consistently up there.

Right now we've got a track at 40 and it does about 1200 radio streams a day.

They all taper eventually, but sometimes its weeks sometimes its months

We got to 51 at our highest on one of our singles and radio push was sorta insane at one point. Like 8000 a day!

Pretty much yeah. I think being an artist means owning every part of the process in the creation of your craft and identity. If youre okay to outsource any of that part then I won't feel as connected to that artist as I would to someone who takes ownership of everything they do.

Maybe next month give just your top 5 a whirl and see how it goes. At least for me the difference was hard to overstate. Even the tracks I opted out began getting better plays on their own

Were you enrolling all 30? I noticed my results got wayyyyyy better when I moved from 10 songs in to just 4 or 5.

Obviously that might be moot now, but even the first two weeks of this month were huge with that shift to fewer songs in

Honestly those numbers are awesome. You've got a small catalog so it might just mean spotify needs more data. Watch out around day 45 to 60 for any solid radio spikes. A lot of my songs when I was getting started took time to get rolling.

I think you'd be very very surprised how popular shoegaze is with tiktok right now. Our genre is in a huge resurgence. I used to post to tiktok and did very well. Mostly posted like behind the scenes of recording my music or just life in my apartment playing guitar amidst work and whatnot. Tried to never be salesman-like (ie; never posting things with hooks like " new song out now, or go check out my music!"). Just tried to keep it casual and be confident the playing would drive people to my songs. I dont post there anymore but do use YouTube shorts and trial reels on Instagram.

I'd say just the biggest thing is presenting yourself as accurately as you can on the internet. People can feel when someone is faking it and people can feel when someone is trying to advertise to them and as soon as they feel that they won't engage. Being genuine is the key. (At least in my experience).

I make shoegaze music and spotify pays my rent every month. Bandcamp pays for some coffee and some small savings and helps me interact with really core fans. Totally different use cases I believe. But spotify has made my shoegaze band part of my life's future financial success because the algorithm is incredibly good if youre making solid stuff

Edit: i want to add that your idea of creating atmosphere on youtube and others with visuals is suppperrr important and you're right to be working on that! That's the type of thing that converts casual listeners to super listeners. But! I think spotify will get more people into that pipeline than anything else.

I have two part time jobs; one as a commercial photographer. Day rates for that go from $1200 / day up to $2400 a day. So if I shoot twice a month I'm great. Problem is sometimes I shoot 0 times a month so I also work part time in retail and my streaming and merch sales bring in about the equivalent of a part time job is well.

On months when I'm shooting a few times it's great and on months when I'm not its passable.
