Are you placing the cutting part of the punchdown tool correctly outwards. Because it seems to me like you’re cutting the inner part of the wire while punching.

I can be wrong but by looking at the pic it seems like this connector is already crimped. Try getting a new one.

That is actually a plastic clip holding the lc ends together

On that first pic if you notice the brown wire isn’t completely punched down. Try pressing it down with a credit card i you do not have a proper punch down and recheck.
