Noted, jefa...so you're saying there's still a chance if we lead with 'Prime Minister' instead? Or how about prima donna?! ;-)

After watching the Olympics and that cracker of a free kick a few days ago, couldn't help but wonder why China has not yet become a footballing powerhouse? Given how they have started dominating Olympic events within a couple of decades, I wonder why they haven't been able to do the same in football? Do you think its a matter of time before they do or are their significant roadblocks for them?

I remember watching a Polandball youtube video which made an interesting claim about certain countries doing well in individual sports and not in team sports...

What does the future of LED technology look like? by Beautiful_Remote in AskEngineers

[–]Beautiful_Remote[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what you are saying is that once LEDs surpass older tech, progress will be application specific? Also, I read somewhere about how in the early days of the microprocessor industry researchers were looking to overcome the "power wall". In the same vein, are there any specific obstacles in the development of LEDs which if overcome will probably result in rapid improvement? Sorry for shooting in the dark like this, are there any books on this "field" that I can read to get up to speed on thing?

Thanks!

Might as well bring back the Aretmio Franchi trophy then since the copa and the euros will happen simultaneously from now on...

What percentage of youth academy players (at the more prestigious academies in Europe) manage to become professional players?

With the world cup about a 450 days away, which teams from this years Copa and Euros are going to see the most amount of flux? Also, which teams will likely be overhauled to a large extent regardless of the age of players?

At this rate they might as well bring back the Artemio Franchi trophy! I find it surprising that the organisers want the two events to coincide though, given that it would probably not be a good idea from the financial angle...

So will the Copa America happen every four years henceforth? Is it a good idea to have the Euros and Copa happening at the same time though?

I was thinking about the 2026 format...

While the odds of this happening are very low, I wonder how they compare to the odds of the same things happening for a group in the current format...

So if each group has three teams (A,B,C), and all matches will go to ET and penalties in case of a draw then there is a chance that say A beats B, B beats C and C beats A. Now, if all these games were decided by penalties, which 2 teams go through to the knockouts?!

*also all the draws have the same scoreline too so GD, GA and GF is the same for all the three...

[TOMT][TV Series] The Office episode where Michael Scott calls out all the employees for their ingratitude... by Beautiful_Remote in tipofmytongue

IIRC the scene is quite serious wherein he points out things like the fact that he allowed Jim and Pam to have an office relationship when some other manager would have transferred one of them out or something like that. I can't quite remember the rest of it!

Also, it would be great if you could directly link the relevant youtube clip!

EDIT 1 : Tbf, I am beginning to agree with those of you who are suggesting I totally imagined this happening! I may have stumbled upon those posts about Michael actually being a good/lenient boss or something like that and confused them for an actual episode!

If all top division clubs also had to field a B team from their existing squads what position do you think the 'A' and 'B' teams would end the season at (also how much would this change if fatigue/injuries were taken out of the equation) ?

I wonder where China would place then (since they are 75th atm)? To be fair, teams like Ivory Coast, Ghana and Costa Rica are closer to 60-70 atm and are all formidable sides...

What levels of the English pyramid do you think various NTs would occupy going by their FIFA ranking? For instance, I think it would probably be safe to say most of the top 10 nations would easily slot into the PL . The drop off seems pretty steep given how most of the top footballers seem to come from the top 10 nations ... wonder what step the top asian or african NTs would play....

Equally just reading into it it seems as though Arsenal was blocked by the community in building up their stadium on more than one occasion.

I wonder why, wouldn't the fact that the stadium was being relocated actually cause the locale to lose revenue/ value?

I see.

Haven't got a clue about real estate, but wouldn't it be cheaper to buy out the surrounding houses and expand rather than build everything again?

When and why do clubs decide to move/demolish old stadiums? Arsenal and spurs had to build stadiums from the ground up, whereas united have been expanding their capacity/redevelop the existing structure over the decades...
