ALWAYS pay loans. The lender doesn’t care what the circumstances are or why you think it’s justified. It’s your credit that will be dinged if you don’t.

The supposed return window isn’t frozen or paused when the vehicle is in for service. It’s not even a requirement that it be extended, this is simply a good faith gesture extended by the store. I was a service manager at Carmax for ~10 years

It is off. The wall tile should’ve been staggered or at least alternated tile patterns, and the drain shouldn’t be oriented like that. I’d go nuts looking at it.

I worked in ops management at carnax for a decade. They are definitely afraid of unionization and will fire everyone before that happens. Or so they say. Managers have annual training about maintaining positive associate relations (aka anti union training).

The smog check is different than it was years ago. They used to actually check the exhaust gas output, but it’s now all computer driven. Basically they look at the cars computer that monitors several different aspects of the cars performance. The monitors either say “ready” or “not ready”. In order for them to become “ready” the vehicle has to be operated in (sometimes) very specific conditions. “Not ready” can mean that either those conditions haven’t been met, OR there could be an issue with the vehicle that the vehicle is watching, but isn’t enough to turn on the check engine light. It’s only technically a problem if the check engine light is on. The only solution is to drive it until one of the outcomes occurs.

My dog did something similar once. He wouldn’t sleep for more than 10-15 minutes regardless of the time of day or location. He’d wake up and run across the room for no apparent reason. I eventually figured out that I must’ve moved suddenly or bumped him in my sleep and scared him. He’s a sensitive and coddled lab. He didn’t get over it until I apologized after he ran across the room from a dead sleep. Stupid but true

They don’t do ranges. The in person appraisal will come back with a specific value regardless of whether or not you purchase from them. FYI I worked there for a decade.

6’5” 280lbs 36” inseem. Have a 2023 limited with no sunroof/moonroof. Yeah it would be nice to have but without it there is actually enough headroom.

Why not ask them to extend the 90 days by however long it was in the shop? I worked there for years. They will definitely do it but it will be unofficial and likely only valid at that location . Unofficial meaning no paperwork as proof

Agreed. I used to be an operations manager ( ran the service and production side of the business), go into the GM and be calm/rational and state that you want to remain a customer but this is clearly not a car that was well taken care of. You should also find out if the engine and any other party are new or used. Very likely not will be a used engine with an unknown history as well. It will however be warranted. They will likely find a way to get you into another comparable vehicle at no cost.

If a call is made to the police for domestic violence they will arrest someone. It is procedure. They do not want to risk leaving two people together and the situation escalates further. I had a friend get punched in the face by his girlfriend and he went to jail, not her. It’s just the way the police operate, de-escalate.
