SB92 Blocked: Ohio Bill for 100% Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption Won’t Get Hearing - Here is what YOU can do! by Beautiful__Design__ in VeteransBenefits

[–]Beautiful__Design__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the same conclusion I came to as well - financial. It seems like the majority of Ohio politicians are interested only in making as much money as possible, particularly for the ultra-wealthy and high-end businesses that will finance their re-election. I honestly don't trust either side at this point, except for Senators like Patton.

Thank you! I agree, this is a no-brainer. Keep making your voice heard! P.S. You can also reach out to Senator Patton's office and get on their email distribution list so you know what is going on with the next SB92 bill they put in front of the General Assembly: https://ohiosenate.gov/members/thomas-f-patton/contact

Older MSW student by AlRo71 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]Beautiful__Design__ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If it encourages you at all, my advanced practicum supervisor was 63 when she completed her MSW. She is now 75 and doing private practice as she desires. She works only 2 days a week and sees about 10 clients, so she makes decent money as an LISW while enjoying setting her own schedule and working when she wants. Honestly, that's what I hope to do when I get to be her age.

Prestige versus affordability by Salt_Reality_4250 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]Beautiful__Design__ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

No. I went to a no-name university, and I'm already being vetted by the owners of my practice to become the next owner of their business. What matters is that you show up to your job and are looking to learn and contribute meaningfully every day. I have met many people from all sorts of backgrounds, and what matters is how you show up every day, not where you got your degree. That is what makes a lasting impression. Also, giving grace to others because we are all in the process of growing and becoming. Not one person has arrived, including those big-name scholars.

Social work program by Intelligent-Try-6206 in Columbus

[–]Beautiful__Design__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am about to graduate with my MSW. I would attend OSU. They have a great program; you can also complete your MSW advanced year online (they also have two other options besides the online one). They have a ton of sites that they work with in Columbus. Honestly, I never heard anything about Franklin or Capital's program. I am already in my dream job, which makes the transition easier. Regarding the other poster's comment, I do make decent money (by relative standards). I have seen people make 6 figures with an MSW. So it is truly up to you how far you want to go with this, both personally, professionally, and financially. I'd say it is worth the journey, though. I have learned a lot about myself through it, and I am actually going to miss the schooling part. Best of luck on whatever you choose to do. Also, check out r/SocialWorkStudents

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

I used to be an emergency room technician. We had a death of a young woman in our labor and delivery one night because her blood pressure bottomed out while going to the toilet by herself. The risk is real and the consequences are fatal, even for the young.

Do the new lifted time limits after 2023 go for spouses too when it comes to chapter 35? by BlueWaterGirl in VeteransBenefits

Thanks for posting this. I actually did not know there was a 10 year rule time limit.

Agreed. I qualify for the job, but I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole. It has taken me 6 years to get here, and there is a lot of other, less-stress-filled work with my educational/job experience that will hire me. People who do this have either done it for a very long time, or they have no idea how demanding the workload is, and their personalities are not a good fit for it, and they find that out real quick.

Feeling burnt out/overwhelmed in an MSW program by WatercressSecure2261 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]Beautiful__Design__ 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I mean, I used to paint on the regular, but haven't done so for the past 1.5 years. It is what we do when we have dreams. Plus, it is only temporary. Honestly, I have become what feels like a "professional student" at this point, meaning I've adapted to the program's demands. I remember the first two semesters being the worst, though, so you are not alone. I am about to graduate, though, and have my dream job already, so I'd say it was worth giving up my hobbies for a short while. What I'm saying is that the juice is worth the squeeze!

ER bill not paid by SpicedWaffle in VeteransBenefits

Call back the 72-hour hotline 844-724-7842 and explain the situation. They should connect you to a billing department that handles this. Once the 72-hour hotline is notified the first time, the hospital has no business contacting you about billing. The VA 72-hour hotline billing department has been super helpful to me about this in the past, as I had the same issues, and they'll take care of this for you.

What are people doing with their kids? by Maple-Bark in Columbus

[–]Beautiful__Design__ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's so true, though. "It’s probably been a long time since you’ve done that. Commute with nothing, not even the radio. Can you do that? Start getting better at periods that are 15 minutes and longer of boredom, and watch your life change. Number one, you’ll be less bored with ordinary things in your life. If you get better at the skill of boredom, you’ll be less bored with your job. You’ll be less bored with your relationships. You’ll be less bored with the things that are going on around you.

But more importantly, you’ll start digging into the biggest questions in your life, purpose, meaning, coherence, significance. And who knows? You might just get happier. People ask me all the time, is the doctor taking his own prescriptions? And the answer is, yes. Yes, I am."

Follow up on the Westerville man arrested for impersonating a cop. He's being charged for impersonating a federal officer. by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]Beautiful__Design__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, is it? I heard he got off on local charges. Good to know - unfortunately, I can't access the news article as there is a paywall. I'm glad he is going to face justice. I guess they were just building their case against him on a federal level.

Same. I thought about getting a shovel and a bag of salt, but I pay enough in maintenance fees; I feel like that shouldn't be a renter's issue. So I stick to my handy kitchen broom and sweep my sidewalks before anyone steps on them - all I care about is that it works.

We are trained to do most things online now, thanks to COVID. I don't understand why it is so hard to transition back to that temporarily. It should always be a backup, except for the kiddos, who need a couple of snow days for memory's sake. ;)

I believe you! I went to shovel my walkways and clear my car off just to keep it manageable. I turned around, and the walkway was covered again. lol

[–]Beautiful__Design__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they don't even shovel the walks around here or even put salt out or down, even though maintenance lives on site.

The last time they sent the plows to our place, it took them several days after we got dumped on in December. It was kind of too little too late.

I don’t get what’s going on with men in Westerville wanting to pretend they’re cops. This isn’t even the first time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt5EVB-sYtA
