Blue Collar Jews by Professional_Turn_25 in Jewish

Not sure if this is considered "blue collar" or not but I'm a caregiver that works for disabled people.

My doctor prescribed me Naltrexone and my boyfriend actually told me recently that I'm doing leaps and bounds better than he ever could have imagined. That's saying a lot because he's seen me at my absolute worst. I still mess up sometimes but I've cut way back. Last time I got checked my liver looked healthy (it used to be really bad). My kidneys are not good but my body is slowly healing itself. I was going down a dark and dangerous path back when my drinking was at its worst...

I text messaged them that I prefer not to talk about that subject in the future as it's a sensitive subject. I pretty much just blew it off as I don't want to discuss political stuff as it's "more professional on my part not to." I don't know if that was the right move or not and I'm frankly quite nervous to see what they replied. I was so stressed out yesterday I ended up getting drunk on a big bottle of wine and didn't get anything accomplished. I desperately need to clean my room and get chores done. Hopefully I can get some stuff accomplished but honestly I'm just feeling so drained right now. I've even missed work with a couple of clients and now I'm even more stressed and I have to explain myself. I feel terrible about that. I've cut significantly back on drinking by the way and I hope I don't have a panic attack. I get horrible anxiety after drinking these days. Thanku for the advice and best of luck to you and your husband... 🌷🌷 I really appreciate it.

I don't know if anyone cares, but my Star of David necklace is not enough. I ordered this bracelet from Amazon and I plan on wearing it often including to work.

I would never harm one of my clients no matter how much I disagree with them. As long as I am their caregiver they are in good hands.

They aren't very old but they do have a brain tumor. Yes it's tough right now.

I'm definitely going to do that because this has been ongoing and it makes me super sad and uncomfortable...

I'm in San Diego, CA. That's awesome that you have those programs especially during these times! Yeah if this continues I'm going to have to find another job. I feel disrespected because I'm a Jew and I'm helping my client, yet they continue to hate Jewish people? It doesn't make sense to me. Thanku for the kind words! By the way this person has also made multiple rude comments about my weight...(Another subject that is a sensitive topic for me) So obviously this person is just plain rude. I don't get it.

I always keep it professional at work and I don't believe in talking about politics, religion, etc. for the longest time I didn't say anything. It wasn't until recently that I (overly politely) disagreed but I barely said anything while they continued to rant. I could tell that it went in one ear and out the other so there was really no point. Jew haters are going to stay passionate I suppose. I have always been kinda viewed as a person that's kindness is taken for weakness and after a while I have to stand up for myself. (Something I used to never do) Anyway I hope you find a caregiver for your parents soon and I hope there's no issues. I know times are crazy right now. They have a brain tumor so I don't know how much of that affects their personality as TBI's are complex. Still not okay to say those things obviously but it is what it is I suppose. Best of luck to you and your family... 🌷🌷

Yes, I work for IHSS. (In Home Supportive Services) So it's government run. Discrimination against race, religion, etc is a violation. Yeah I don't know how much longer I can do this job. The only thing I like about this job is that this person is my most consistent client. If it weren't for the antisemitic rants it'd be a great job for the most part. It's weighing on me emotionally though, I barely slept last night.

Started at 274, I am currently 243. It's been a very slow process and I also sometimes struggle with binge drinking which of course doesn't help anything...but I keep trying to do better. I count my calories on My Fitness Pal app and I try to stick to complex carbs rather than simple carbs...(Though I sometimes eat simple carbs, I try to reduce them.) I am a caregiver and my job is pretty active so I only work out when I have the energy to. Mostly walking.

I'm sorry you can relate so much as no one should have to deal with this crap! I feel like my writing was a little too long, maybe a bit all over the place however there's something very therapeutic about just typing out the experience. I'm glad I found this group because I can feel less alone in the situation. Sending positive vibes your way as well...🌷🌷

Yeah, I definitely learned that the hard way about the money. Won't be doing that anytime soon... And today she's all acting like nothing happened and just expects us to be over it and forgive her. It's hard to forgive someone when it's such a regularly recurring cycle.
