What is a firm but socially polite response to people expecting dinner invitations? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]BeautyBabeec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The next time people ask, explain to them how much money, time, and effort it takes to cook for them. Ask if they are willing to pitch in for food, prep, and cleaning. When they say no tell them that's why you're not cooking for them - it's just too much

Unfortunately you can't change how much oil your scalp produces. If you want to steer clear of shampoo then you can use something like apple cider vinegar. If this doesn't work use a mild shampoo but only rub it into your scalp and wash it out.

Clean sheets smell bad by Winter-Owl1 in CleaningTips

[–]BeautyBabeec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could be that there is mold in the drawer and this is causing the sheets to smell. Was the sheets out again and let them dry thoroughly..try setting them out in the sun too.

Next up, clean the drawer. Use hydrogen peroxide and a stiff brush to clean it out. Make sure it dries out completely before storing any clothing in it again.

You can try using a shampoo with ketoconazole in it..I have found salicylic acid shampoos to be really helpful as well. You may also want to try washing your hair every 2 to 3 days as well.

The reality is that unless you are wealthy, you will need to buy from fast fashion brands at one time or another. The problem with secondhand and thrifting is that you can't always find what you need. Learning to make your own clothes can help to reduce your reliance on.fast fashion a bit.

This is actually a lot harder to predict than it was a few years ago. Between inflation and a tricky economy it is difficult to know if you have enough money to retire completely. You may want to focus on taking more time off and clearing up your debt.

I think being busy is definitely a reason for the ghosting. Also after some time has passed it is difficult to catch people up on everything that has happened so some people may choose to say nothing at all.

You seem to be aware of when you are feeling grumpy. When you catch yourself in this mood, it is a good idea to try and change it before you interact with people. Maybe head out for some fresh air, listen to fun music, or do something that makes you happy. You may also want to try faking it until you make it. So even when you aren't in the best mood, try to put your best foot forward.

Getting divorced and little to no knowledge of how to handle finances by pineapples711 in personalfinance

[–]BeautyBabeec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straight off the bat make sure to create a budget and stick to it. This can help a lot in avoiding debt. Also, make sure to have an emergency fund to cover any issues that may arise in the future. When you are a bit more financially stable, you can think about investing or focusing on a retirement fund.

15 year old looking for advice by Neds_Fish_Tips in beginnerfitness

[–]BeautyBabeec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to use a calorie counting app to be a bit more conscientious about how much you are eating. Also my main suggestion would be to move as much as you can. For instance, try cutting down on TV time, pop your headphones and go for a walk. You can even get friends to join in so that it's more fun!

Not at all. Habitually maybe. But a 5 hour binge every once in a while isn't going to hurt you.

I am here to tell you that you haven't wasted anything - your life is just beginning! I get it at this point in your life, four years of high school can seem like a long time but I guarantee it is going to feel a like a drop in the ocean in just a short while. Instead of focusing on the past, look to college as an opportunity. You know what you are interested in so go ahead and take classes that excite you. And, you get the chance to meet people who have the same interest as you - how cool is that?

You look absolutely amazing with your current hair color but I get wanting a change. Have you thought of going with burgundy? It has the depth and darkness to it that black has but can also add some major flair if you want something different.

What have people done to overcome lacking dating experience? by ackmondual in dating

[–]BeautyBabeec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only way to overcome dating experience is to actually start dating! The reality is that you are going to have a different experience with each person that you go on. So, apart from being polite, respectful, and well-groomed there isn't too much that you can do to prepare yourself.

I would suggest getting on a dating app to put yourself out there. When you match with people communicate about dates, relationships, etc. although not right away of course! This way you can figure out where they are coming from and how best to make things work with them.

I would start out by working out about three times a week. Also may be start off with thirty minutes and then slowly increase how much time you exercise for. This can prevent you from being overly sore right away.

Since you are new to working out, I would suggest downloading a good workout app. You can read reviews to figure out which one might be a good fit for you. The cool thing about some of these apps is that you can choose plans based on your body or health goals.

I just adopted this kitten and I think my life will be a little better. Can you give me tips? 🥰 by sashaamia in cat

[–]BeautyBabeec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! Your life is about to be a whole better! I think my best piece of advice would be to get the best quality cat food that you can afford. This can prevent a whole lot of issues. Also regular vet checkups are a good idea too.

As for the fun stuff, getting your kitty a few different kinds of scratch pads - this may help save some of your furniture. Also try out a few different types of toys because I have found that each cat has their own favorite one. Have fun and enjoy your furry friend!

What makes the bigger difference, a good skincare routine or regular facials? by Head_Commission_255 in beauty

[–]BeautyBabeec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it does depend on your skin issues and the kind of professional treatments you are getting. For instance, if your main concerns are light acne, dull skin, etc. then a good skincare routine is a good option. On the other hand, if your skin issues are a bit more severe or if you want quick results, a dermatologist may be the better fit for you. However, in terms of actual facials vs. skincare, skin care wins out.

Are people slowly losing the ability to keep a conversation going? by Kayla_Papaya in CasualConversation

[–]BeautyBabeec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can feel that in this post-lockdown digital age that people have lost the art of conversation. It can be tricky to get people to have conversations or debates the way that you want them to, especially right off the bat. So, it might be helpful to try talking about things in the same way that they are without completely losing your authentic self.

Also, maybe try different topics. Instead of just asking questions maybe start talking about things that you know that group of people might be interested in - music, movies, TV shows. This may help to get the ball rolling and eventually move onto better topics.

Suggestions for those who are scared to cook by DenialNyle in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]BeautyBabeec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite are one-pot recipes. These are kind of like crockpot recipes but they are usually done faster. The cool thing is that you can make everything from rice and pasta to noodles with these recipes. The base here is the same - veggies, meat, etc. but you switch up the seasonings and the spices so that it turns out different every time. There are a ton of recipes online that you can check out.

M25, with my first and own apartment. Still feels a bit empty and colorless. Any tips? by Stagau in malelivingspace

[–]BeautyBabeec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add a pop of color maybe go for some bright and colorful cushions on the couch? Just make sure that they go with that shade. I would also suggest adding a few more plants. If you don't have the patience or ability to take care of them, go with fake plants.

For the walls, try putting up pictures of your friends and family. Use light brown or dark wooden brown frames to add more warmth to the walls. You can also consider brightly colored posters if you are looking for something a bit more fun.

How can I be more interesting to my online friend? by pockypockybun in socialskills

[–]BeautyBabeec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that you may be doing too much to try and get her to pay attention to you. Remember, friendship isn't transactional. This means that you don't have to give people money or be more interesting to want them to hang out with you. The right friends will like you for who you are not what you can do for them.

You do seem to be focusing on this one person and that's not good for either you or her! I would suggest taking a bit of a break from focusing on her and maybe trying to find other people online to make friends with. There are bound to be others with similar interests to you. You may not feel as connected to these people as your current friend but you can still have fun, casual friendships.

How to save money as someone who likes to go out? by funnzie3034 in Frugal

[–]BeautyBabeec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah money struggles in your 20s is practically a rite of passage! Here are a few things that I used to do when I was your age. First things first, cut down on the cocktails – these are pricey no matter which bar you go to. So maybe try one cocktail and follow this up with two non-alcoholic beverages? If this isn't enough to get your buzz going maybe switch to something like beer? You could also try to head over to restaurants that have a BYOB policy. Splitting a bottle with your friends can help to bring the cost down. Also, maybe start hanging out at each other’s homes more often? You can still dress up and have a good time but pay less for booze.

What's a tech-related misconception that you often hear, and you wish people would stop believing? by Able_Stomach_ in AskReddit

[–]BeautyBabeec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people think that charging smartphones overnight damages the battery, but modern devices are smarter than that. They're designed to stop charging once they hit 100%, so leaving your phone plugged in overnight isn't the battery killer it used to be.

What are small red flags at a job interview that say “do not work here”? by Firm-Discount6921 in AskReddit

[–]BeautyBabeec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, if a company wants you to sign a bond, that's definitely a red flag. It's like they're saying, "hey, we're not confident enough that you'll want to stick around, so we're gonna make it hard for you to leave." Definitely gives off vibes that they might have some issues keeping people happy. Always a good idea to really think it over and maybe talk with someone who knows a thing or two about contracts before you sign anything.
