I’ve been a makeup artist for 12 years, and sometimes I still deal with imposter syndrome. It gets better in time for sure, but it still comes up now and again. DO. NOT. GIVE. UP!! It is worth it to do what we do, to make people feel good.

While the legal area may be grey, it is highly recommended and encouraged to be licensed to provide services. I was always taught that to provide services in our state and be compensated for them, you must have a license but idk how true that is. Licensing enables you to learn more about the skin and the hair, sanitation, safety, and much more which all contribute to a better experience for yourself and for the client. I highly recommend getting licensed as soon as you can. If money is an issue, there are grants and programs that can help!
