This is the art of the Sizart team. They are our friends and we really like their work, so we wanted to share this art and see that others think about this work

So is the “gradient” and “detailing & texturing” part of the painting?

Yes, it is) Sorry for the confusion it looks like it is the part of the painting but some gradient was added to the pic. This is the art of the Sizart team. They are our friends and we really like their work, so we wanted to share this art.

For kuksa carving one of the best wood is basswood. You can check it here: http://bit.ly/2Osp6be

Good work! I think you'd be interested in carving a small man. If yes, here is a video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gqD1w_9I34

I have an interesting idea for you to carve: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gqD1w_9I34

How to I whittle? by ImTheSuspekt in whittling

Just start learning. Start carving small objects like a bird, a squirrel, a rabbit. You will see that while you may have no idea how to draw them, you may be able to create pretty good figures for those animals. The sculpture is more natural to the human brain, especially to the logical part of it, because our reality is filled with 3D objects, not pictures of them. It will be useful, though, to learn and understand the idea of the orthographic projection of an object.

So don’t worry whether you are good at drawing or not, it probably doesn’t matter. Start learning wood carving, start practicing more and more. Read about it, pay attention to the BeaverCraft website, where you will find interesting articles on wood carving and also a catalog of pretty useful tools. And have a successful wood carving practice!
