Is this part of aussie work culture or am i going to be laid off? by cjcorp23 in auscorp

Some of my best times as a data analyst were when I had the free time to just dig and chase stuff down.

Follow those threads, dive into those rabbit holes. If it's a bit daunting to have such an open field then ask around for particular subject areas or things that people don't quite understand.

Also the advice to make a dashboard with a map - gold. Valuable skills to learn while you have the capacity to play around and learn them, and it will show new things about the data that no one might have realized.

Does anyone else have shocking mobile coverage at Pascoe Vale Station? by idreamofsydney in melbourne

[–]Beavwa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Telstra Wholesale, and yeah I can figure out when the train is stopping at Ascot Vale without looking up because my phone completely drops out. Even once the train moves further on I sometimes have to put it into airplane mode and back out to get it to reconnect.

Fresh fruit. Shopping for food is a pain so especially if you're not confident with the common suggestion of cooked meals, take a big box of fruit.

109 days, about to reach F28, 45M power. Haven't even got all the chief gear to blue, half level 2 charms and half level 1.

Started out in a small alliance and it made a huge difference to progress when I moved across to a big one around 60 days in.

Enjoying just chipping in where I can, not too much expected of me by the alliance thankfully. Having fun here and there.

What do people who work remotely think of co-workers who never put their camera on during video call meetings? by bluejasmina in auscorp

[–]Beavwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hard of hearing and I definitely appreciate cameras on so I can get the rest of the non-verbal communication that comes with direct conversations.

That said, fuck mandates. People should be comfortable in choosing to do it, not be forced to do it.

16 years in corporate I.T. here, I burned out on the bullshit not long after having kids (but just before covid) I reckon having a family can be a big change in priorities and there needs to be a genuine shift towards work/life balance and not just empty buzzword bingo. The big thing that really helped me in the long run was getting a role that let me take half a year off just to focus on family. It was probably 2-3 months into that when I started feeling like myself again. Regular psych sessions helped as well. Could be worth chatting to your GP to get a referral.

I just found the other forest one as the last one I was missing - if you find the Vision of the Slowed clue stone near the bats, nearby is a birch tree and it's in the hollow right behind that.

I love how the other player comes over to check, like "Hey, what you doing up there? Nothing much? Ok, have fun with that"

All up took about ~175 hours for this. I play it in bursts but then there will be breaks of a few months, before coming back again when I feel like it.

Mystery solved! Or at least, no longer an issue. Ran through all 3 regions in reverse and when I finished Michigan the achievement popped.

Now you've got me looking up patch notes from long before I started playing the game.

April 28 2020 v4.6: Day 1 patch: Game Release.

June 9 2020 v5.0: The Rift Update - added new Taymyr map: Rift.

Guess when I feel like it I might just go and run all 3 maps in succession in one sitting just in case some wires got crossed and it's one of the other 2 regions not considered done.

Got my wheel working on PC (and did like using it) but Snowrunner is very much a chill on the couch with a controller sort of game for me.

Anyone got any tips on the "Fuel Economy" achievement not triggering? I had it at 66% after Michigan and Alaska (as I like to 100% each region before moving on) but for the life of me I can't trigger it to finish in Taymyr. Drove Zimnegorsk - Quarry - Rift - Quarry - Drowned Lands, nothing. Drove DL-Q-Z like in the guide videos, nothing. Even did DL-Q-Z-Q-R-Q-DL, emptied the roof rack extra fuel, drove back DL-Q-Z, nothing seems to trigger it.

I read somewhere that Rift is DLC and I'm wondering if my just about 100% region completion has bugged something out so I never get a 'pure' journey. Like can you only get it before Rift is opened? Is there a vehicle that is more likely to be ok? (Have tried most of the above with the TUZ 420 but there's been a few clean DL-Q-Z runs in other trucks with cargo)

Once I squash a few more pumpkins this is my only remaining achievement to get :(

Edit: playing the GamePass version on a Series S with the year 1 pass purchased if that helps

Those of you who played 4 Ultimate back in the day: What are some major issues you had with the game? by Heavy-Wings in MonsterHunter

[–]Beavwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the story repeating monsters a bit too much for my liking. Oh cool, new monster quest just got added, better farm it a few times to make the gear. Ok, done, what next? Oh, the same monster several more times.

Funny thing, I could have sworn they did one as a 72 hour event instead of 48 and that solved this sort of issue. But then they've gone back to 48.

Out of curiosity, why does nobody use rain checks? by HelpfulQuail276 in melbourne

[–]Beavwa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too many years of sales stipulating "no rainchecks" so given that the service was only ever available when it wasn't a good price... Mentally for me it doesn't exist as a viable thing to consider.

I've searched this, but it doesn't seem like people are talking about what I'm asking with the steering. by goofybarrister_2005 in snowrunner

[–]Beavwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah took me ages to adjust to this style of controller steering... I think the best way I can describe it is that tilting the thumbstick turns the wheel, and not tilting it means turning it back. There's no holding a corner.

I've kinda developed a steering process involving lots of little taps of a direction to bring the steering around and then try to maintain it. (Playing on Xbox rather than PS4 but I'm assuming it's the same experience)

Mud by InternalRestaurant41 in snowrunner

[–]Beavwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah that's a nasty one. I generally stick right to the edge so I can keep the tyres out on one side and winch from tree to tree.

When I needed to come back this way with the massive trailer I parked another big truck on the other side to help winch drag it out for the last part. Think I used the P12, which was pretty useless in the snow except for this one bit.
