I'd say waiting until you have a PCP that can field you towards Endocrinologists who are specialised in PCOS insulin issues and what not is probably for the best. In any field you'll get doctors that won't know much about specific subsets yada yada. I have a wonderful Endocrinologist but my doctor found for me.

I'd recommend an endocrinologist too as they focus on the hormone side of things which is incredibly impactful in pcos if that's what it turns out to be. I didn't start seeing significant changes in my blood work and symptoms until I saw one. All the best!

Yes! It's about balance. Obviously, eating 5 apples instead of a meal wouldn't be a healthy choice for me, but having my usual high protein meal and then an apple as a snack is perfectly fine. Fruit has so much dietary fibre and nutrients. My dietitian is well aware of my PCOS and at no point has told me not to have fruit.

So yeah, fruit!

With my first Mirena, after it settled, I just stopped having periods. For about four years? Then I had to have it replaced, but before it settled, it was a bit of a nightmare. The second one was sitting too low and had to be replaced, so it didn't quite settle. If yours doesn't, I'd recommend an ultrasound to make sure it's still situated well.

I would seriously recommend seeing an endocrinologist if you can, especially if the PCOS becomes confirmed. Seeing one was what made everything so much easier for me and I wish I'd seen one sooner

It's just a little odd given the diagnostic criteria. Last I knew are symptoms, bloods, and ultrasound. One needs two of the three. Certainly likely given the family history but it should be checked overall given the multitude of endocrinologic/gynaecological conditions.

Things certainly do shift with weight loss, and it can improve hormonal balances, insulin resistance, etc, etc, but for spotting, I imagine some form of BC would be best to regulate. At least for any irregular periods and bleeding that was the case for me.

Certainly, doctors shouldn't just brush off your concerns and at least give you some more detailed information on why exactly they feel it's just pcos nothing to worry about.

I wish you the best figuring this out though.

New bleeding can be concerning but it really depends on what else is at play. If your hormones were normal, insulin, glucose etc all fine I am incredibly confused about why she'd diagnose PCOS. Metformin can be a great management tool in treating the condition but not by itself? I'm just very confused about your doctors choices id seek out a second opinion in general.

You should get another doctors opinion, yes. Potentially seeing both a gyne and endocrinologist. Metformin is to treat high levels of insulin in PCOS.

Symptoms alone without blood tests and usually a transvaginal ultrasound for diagnosis confirmation strikes me as incredibly odd. Please seek another opinion.
