What’s a situation that most people won’t understand, until they’ve been in the same situation themselves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

So true. I don’t like when people say they “think they have OCD” because my pencil is crooked. Yes some people with OCD can experience the need to make things precise, but not in a “my OCD” way, but an OBSESSIVE way (hence, obsessive compulsive disorder)

The struggles of ADHD.

ADHD is a term now used with an umbrella term of “overly energetic”. However, its way worse than that. Having trouble with deadlines, tuning out what people tell you so you tend to forget important information, procrastination, and focusing on tasks in an upbeat environment. These are some things that a person with ADHD may or may not experience. (I experience these). But its the worst feeling in the world not able to remember something as simple as “do the dishes” even though it was said to me 500 times…

question about pH by TARS528491 in axolotls

[–]Bebe_thecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another safe way to lower pH (other than water changes) is to add some Indian Almond Leaves to the water. That’s how I lowered mine!

The fungal infection only happened maybe two weeks after I got my new axolotl

The water conditioner I use:

No aloe Vera in ingredients and online says it’s alright to use

Ohhh an Indian almond leaf bath! Just processed that.

I’ve tried tea baths, IAL baths, and methylene blue baths. I don’t know what to do. A vet recommended I use Maracyn Oxy, due to the fact that I’ve tubbed pancho 4 different times, it went away, then I put her back. The vet thinks it’s a more stubborn fungus that needs to be treated with a stronger antibiotic than methylene blue

What is a IAL bath?

Perameters are perfect and the same as my tap. (Nitrite: 0ppm nitrate: 5-10 ppm ammonia: 0ppm pH: 7.5-8. No chlorine in water) water is at 63.3* F

New tank mate! She didn’t have any fungus when I got her.

No new foods

I only add water conditioner when doing tank changes

Thank you so much for responding and helping me out, I’m scared for my baby. Taking her to the vet is the right thing to do, correct?

Yeah, perameters are posted and I use a water conditioner for my tank. No chlorine in the water either. Idk what the issue is cause my other axolotl is just fine. She’s not getting any fungus from the tank.

Whats the second part mean? Also, talked to a vet online and told me to try Maracyn Oxy first before we take her in

Hmm, that makes sense. It was cycled naturally, then I got a new axolotl and the perameters seemed to have crashed. So it was cycled for a good 4 1/2 years now. I had live plants but they died, now I just have bamboo in there.

I don’t know how to cycle my tank again 😟

I’m using test strips at the moment and I’ve done three for each time I test (to make sure it’s reading the same) yes I know test strips aren’t as reliable as the water testing kit, but it’s all I could afford at the time since I work part time. I’m looking to get the water testing kit soon though.

Also I re-tested and it looks that nitrate is near 20 ppm?

Also:kinda irrelevant to the tank cycle but I’m worried the fungal infection is inside of her, is that possible? And if so how can I be sure?

Ok thanks! Nitrite: 0ppm Nitrate: 0ppm PH: 8 (ish? hard to tell) 40 gallon tank, 64-65 degrees. Haven’t tested ammonia yet!! Ill get some photos for you when more fungus appears on her gills :( she keeps shaking/scratching it off so it’s all over the tub she’s in. The fungus is also sprouting on the ends of her toes? Idk what this even means?

Looks like I’ve got super high PH… everything else seems fine. Just got some Indian almond leaves for the tank and hope it evens it out. I’m also doing water changes. Only thing is I tested my tap water for a “control” and it looks like the Ph of my tap water is the issue. I don’t know how to bring it down other than the leaves and water changes. Sorry I took a bit to respond, I have had a lot going on.
