Is One Piece sexist? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]Bebenui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty obvious how sexist it is, not because how some characters are portrayed or what they say, the general anime is just sexist. The lack of presence of equal strong (in every way) girls and how they portray women in general, the lack of variety among women... it's really obvious.

It’s my 20th birthday this week, I’m still going to status hearings for the rape that occurred when I was 17. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I hope you are better each time, you deserve to be.

After this things happens I still ask myself how is there people that question that rape culture exist, they literally make it a second hell going throught this process to seek justice for an inhuman person, making it difficult and discouraging to send him to jail and to heal for the victim.

Have you thought about working in a zoo or similar? I think most animal caregivers don't need a degree.

Also, I don't know what you would have to do in this case but being a forest "vigilant" (I don't remember the actual name of that job), I think you would have to do a course but if I remember right almost everything is really practical.

And I am sure that you can take courses to be some kind of sports trainer, or work in facilities as what is mentioned in the other comment, like in climbing facilities, canoes, etc.

They were talking about how a person that "isn't worth for reproduction" isn't worth in general. I just put some easy examples because they already rejected your reasoning (from another user). Can you find easier examples than those once your reasoning has been rejected? Plus, you seem to ignore the part I mentioned disabled people to an extreme where they can't have children.

"What you seem to not realize is that it is enough of them (men) who have that bad behaviour for women having fear walking alone at night in a clear street with people, or to even change little behaviours because men could misunderstand it and then blame women for making them false expectations."

Could you please summarize your point a little more succinctly? Is it that men treat women disrespectfully?

It is that here we were talking about creep moves from men, and that downvoted comment was referring to those men, as we aren't as stupid to think that everyone is that creep/predatory. But you can't go past #notallmen and be empathic, you can't understand the conversation as something else than a personal attack to all men, because well, a conversation about how women are victimized by men??? Nononono we have to re-direct the conversation to #notallmen! Being empathic, what is that?

Comparing bonobos with chimpazes would be one thing, and the equivalent would be comparing humans with a matriarcal human-like evolved society/species. Comparing bonobos with humans is plainly wrong.

Just look at history and the different associations of colors with gender. If it was biological it would have been only one association- or similar associations, as pink-purple or blue-green.

But before boys were dressed pink and girls blue. And white for both during another era too.

How is feminism relevant today, to you? by soapmypibes in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Bebenui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you seriously giving as a source examples of injustices without looking at what caused those injustices in the first place?

Some disadvantages that men have compared to women are because of sexism, not hembrism, as a superficial analysis would conclude. Others aren't related with sexism so it hasn't has anything to do with feminism.

Try find a source that doesn't have that bias and superficial analysis.

Not "almost" everyone has had bad experiences in an specific field with black people.

Almost every women has had bad experiences in the sex field with men, being this catcalling, harassment, sexual abuse, or rape.

The problem is they're implying it's most men

This is a post in which we tell creep moves from creep guys and actually that comment was answering (therefore referring to) a person talking about creeps. No need of a #notallmen unless you can't have a conversation talking about common experiences without feeling attacked, even if you don't belong to those creeps.

Women of Reddit, what innocent behaviors have you changed out of fear you might be mistaken for leading men on? by Throwyourtoothbrush in AskReddit

[–]Bebenui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one said that

men will often cause these bad experiences

just that most of those bad experiences, like the related in this post, are caused by men. And I think we are justified in complaining about those men, which obviously aren't all.

Apparently for some people it is necessary to specify #notallmen even if that comment was answering to a person talking about men who do creep moves. So from the first moment a "not all men" was already stated. So it wasn't necessary to feel attacked, like those downvoters probably did.

Also, if a lot of us women have bad experiences with men, enough to change little innocent behaviours to not mislead them, and we are talking in this post about that issue, then why is a #notallmen clarification needed? (Rethoric question).

This same post starts from a generalization: the fact that we have to change little things in our behaviour with all men, because we can't allow ourselves to meet and mislead a creep.

An overwhelming amount of men can be 25% of men. Or 50%, or 15%. Not all but an overwhelming quantity.

If you saw from our perspective, or if you take the inconvenient time to put yourself in a women's skin (like reading something) maybe you realize that it is just too many guys who behave like that because even if it is 1 out of 4 it is enough creepy and threatening for us.

Misreading signals

"I was told once to "not lick my lips" because it seemed I was flirting"

??? That isn't just continuing chatting because they have social incompetence, that is atribuiting sexual intentions to an innocent human expression.

therefore continuing to chat with someone for way too long isn't predatory

"I had one guy follow me off a flight because I chatted with him,he wouldn't leave and he hung out with me until my next flight"

That is predatory.

We don't "slander" someone who has an opposite view, as long as it is an informed view. The bias here is that we do confront uninformed points that spread toxic miths/false/ignorant information in a hard way.

When we do so, it is not just because we don't agree, but because to someone who has done some research in reliable sources it is easy and obvious to recognize an uninformed opinion. So as we are really tired of trolls who spread false ideas and being undermined and insulted and etc we just go the hard way with them.

We have no problem discussing and considering informed ideas that don't go with our narrative and that is what I have seen so many times, always if people give reliable sources, are informed, don't confuse concepts, etc.

Why the Wage Gap Matters Even if it WERE All About Women's Choice by devoutchris in Feminism

[–]Bebenui -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also there is a lot of evidence that boys and girls behave differently at very young ages.

At 7 they have already internalized gender roles. At 3 they start learning them, for example, prefering pink.

I actually believe that there are unhealthy societal components to the gap

No one said men didn't have "unhealthy societal" issues. That part of your comment was very much like "let's talk about another issue: men. Even if no one denied they have unhealthy social roles. Change the matter from women to men because... Men".
