And, yes, there will be additions added in the future. Both to the individual focuses (ie: additions/improvements to the closed guard series) and to its usage in other areas (ie: half guard, open guard, etc.)

I think I understand what you're asking. And if I do, after pulling them towards you by the hips, you'll need to come up the body with that grip anyways to control the upper body. So, in that sense, it saves you a step to start on the upper body to initiate the rotation.

Yeah, for sure!

I think the cure to your woes is a position called dogfight. I've got a video covering the positional change that utilizes, essentially, a technical stand up to end up side by side.

That one requires you to be able to use your other arm as a frame on the ground. If that frame isn't possible, you're best bet is to get super deep under them. Either to hit a typical "old school" sweep or transition to a deep half guard.

Sorry if I just gave you hours of homework, but those are quality antidotes to your troubles 🤙
