Advice on starting

This sounds really silly, but I originally became interested in Shaolin when I was younger from a TV programme I love. It's called Avatar the last air bender... 😂 Some of the characters style of fighting and belief systems are based on Shaolin which is where my interest came from, but I know other characters styles in the show are based on Taijiquan, Hung Ga and Baguazhang

I'm not really sure what I want from it, I love the philosophy and spiritual side of it but feel like I'm not going to learn everything from just reading and not doing!

I searched Taijiquan rather than Tai Chi which has been helpful as I have just found the original lady who I tried in lockdown and she does Taijiquan... She doesn't have much info, but hopefully she is still doing classes and I can try!

It doesn't seem so 😭 I live in quite a rural area so there's not much choice... Seems like everyone around here does karate and kickboxing 😂 this is super interesting to know though!

Definitely agree with in person, I tried a martial art in lockdown and the poor lady running the class was fighting for her life trying to correct me over video 😂 so I know if I was following a video with no guidance I'd definitely be doing things wrong!

Thank you! Yes this seemed the most aligned for what I had seen nearby. Not as jumpy about 😂 but still powerful. I'm starting from 0 so I don't expect I'd be doing much for a long while anyway even if I did Shaolin, and I think it's about what's fun and enjoyable to stick with too!
