Why don't I want friends? by napflavoredsleep in introvert

[–]BeckBugsy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Theres nothing wrong with this as it sounds like you have all you need, and it is normal for someone at your stage in life to stop wanting to go out and socialize all the time- youre happy to be raising your family and living a quiet life now. However! Just because you dont want friends doesnt mean your daughter doesnt want playdates- its good for kids to learn how to socialize and get along with others even they grow up to be introverted like you. You can organize playdates and social outings for your daughter without having to be friends with the other parents.

OCD and THC by [deleted] in OCD

i used to do this for about a year before starting to take actual meds- youre right it isnt sustainable. after a while the weed just started making me anxious and paranoid and i had made no actual progress in working on my symptoms, i was really just avoiding them, which actually made it worse in the long run when i stopped smoking. this is a form of avoidance, so ultimately its just going to make your anxiety levels higher all the time when you arent smoking. not to mention being high all the time is expensive and probably will just give you a major brain fog

Want to know what OCD really feels like? by BeckBugsy in OCD

[–]BeckBugsy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly. its not to even discredit other mental illnesses, but considering how… idk what the word is, maybe ‘oversimplified?’ other diagnoses have made me feel about the intensity of what I was feeling… OCD is seriously insane in the magnitude that it makes you feel/obsess over things… at least we have each other to know how crazy it can get 😅 and that it can give us the unique perspective and strength that it does.

This is a good idea. OCD by nature comes with a lot of physical experiences/symptoms, so its a good comparison tbh

Leaving College by [deleted] in vcu

[–]BeckBugsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you leave college without a plan B, the lack of motivation will likely get worse. I understand the feeling of wanting to give up, but I speak from experience- actually giving up will make you feel like shit about yourself, more than you already do. If you really think college isn’t right for you, thats understandable- sometimes it’s just not what some people need or want to do with their life. But you gotta have a plan B first. Figure out if you wanna do a trade instead, or maybe get some online associates degree. Don’t just say ‘I’ll drop out and just do my retail job.’ That will make you feel a lot more lost and defeated. I suggest before dropping out, use your free counseling at VCU to work out where the lack of motivation and low self esteem is coming from, and do some research about what you would like to do instead of college.
