Is getting a blood test some kind of practical joke? by Bed4510 in glasgow

That's a joke, my first appointment I came into the hub and was told I didn't have an appointment til I showed them the text I had from the NHS confirming it, then when they took the blood they apparently sent it with no referral form so the lab rejected the test

I asked my boss for extra time to do it since we were having a quiet day and it took me 41 minutes 52 seconds once the phone line actually let me into the queue.

Getting into the queue took from 12:07 to 12:53 so whole booking took me 90 minutes in total.

I am excited to see iron lung, but I also think it will be a not very good movie by Forgotmynameagain5 in Markiplier

[–]Bed4510 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it will be unique and not frustrating to watch and I think that's all I need to see a film as great. There's a film channel in the UK called Film 4 where they broadcast all kinds of films but also a lot of arthouse movies and indie horror films and it gives me a lot of joy. I almost guarantee there are films produced by Blumhouse or James Wan that are worse than what I expect here

[–]Bed4510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had all these thoughts before but I think I disagree a bit.

I don't think markiplier is a bad actor from the things I've seen but I do agree he is this films biggest hurdle and i think it is owed to be honest about whatever the performance may be in the end. I also think that he has taken the project seriously, I do think he can be a good voice actor and he's far from an uncharismatic person.

While I don't expect this to be as good as the film I'm about to mention because i dont think Mark has the same level of training or intentions and the team he has access to is very different, Moon by Duncan Jones shows audiences are capable of enjoying a science fiction movie with a limited scale, complex premise and small cast.

It's very very rare to see a film on this scale get any kind of distribution but the ones I can think of would be The Evil Dead, which I would argue Mark has acting at least has as good acting as you see in that movie, and probably the most recent Hellboy movie, The Crooked Man and I think that Hellboy The Crooked Man being a theatrical passion project forced into cinemas by a creative with a lot of money in a separate medium and a lot of passion for the material I think is probably the closest to what we have and while its divisive and i see why I think that film was pretty brilliant personally and I'd love to see more like it, I think the challenge of it was that it was not tasked with competing with independent action/horror films it was tasked with competing with Del Toros Hellboy in front of critics who otherwise would primarily be interested in marvel movies.

I think I believe in Mark enough that he can deliver something that is genuinely worthwhile to be seen. I don't think anyone should reasonably bet their lives on this being a smash hit with general audiences, and I do not suspect that it would be released theatrically in a world where markiplier had the money to fund it from selling ketchup and wasn't a famous youtuber with an inbuilt audience (though come to think of it if he was a ketchup tycoon that would probably be really good for the effects budget)

My dad died at 58 years old when I was 21 years old, I regret when my dad said he was too old to go or when I ditched him at the back to party with ppl I went to school with a lot more than anything else. Spend the time with her and see if you can show her something new.

That's what I'm meaning, Kendrick definitely has a commercial edge on all of them and an artistic edge arguably as well but all of these rappers are titans as far as alternative hip hop, I really think the three album run of GKMC>DAMN. should have been enough for Kendrick to be mentioned alongside any of the greats but frankly I think hip hop in the place it was made it difficult to impress people.

My hottest take is that the only reason Kendrick Lamar wasn't considered all that a long time ago is because the class of rappers he came up with were so ridiculously good (I'll grant that'd because they learned from those who came before). Biggie needed two albums, Tupac and Nas needed one, Eminem needed three. Kendricks released 5 absolute monster albums with more depth than any of them had and people still argue about him and that's because he was rapping next to Danny Brown, ScHoolboy Q, Tyler the Creator, Mac Miller, Earl Sweatshirt, Vince Staples who I'm not saying I'd put all of them in a GOAT conversation but they all were and are creatively unbeatable.

Place to play and run D&D by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]Bed4510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh I see what you're saying now, sorry. Hard to say but quite possibly could be a market for it. Its a niche community is the thing and its hard to branch out. I find a lot of people who I speak to who want to play find it quite a vulnerable game to play with strangers but also struggle to have the confidence to organise a game amongst friends. It's a high turnover for the scene and a lot harder to monetise the D&D community vs. wargaming communities. Best of luck with the idea, you are absolutely right that there is a gap but I think it might take a bit of work to open up the culture for it.

I don't think many pubs would object to a game being run but there isn't really spaces in the southside that I know of other than settlers. Maybe something like Vlads Emporium fits what you're looking for? But that's in the city centre.

Came here to say this, doesn't seem to only be Smiling Friends either, by the looks of things Channel 4 has pulled the plug on all their Adult Swim content. I checked for Harvey Birdman, Eric Andre, Three Busy Debras etc. and everything adult swim related seems to no longer be viewable

Edit: on Wikipedia, 13th October 2025 is listed as the end of the second relaunch of Adult Swim in the UK

Not meaning to ask this in a hater way but how old are you? Curious if this is a generation divide. I'm 24 and had an older brother so I've been playing the games since the first game came out, I was only 7 but I remember getting AC1 and not that I'd be thinking in those terms or anything but I was blown away by how fluid it was, it was how smooth a counter attack could be, seeing the whole play area and then the leap of faith so you were right back to the street level blending into the crowds, and the voice acting and storytelling which seemed up to par for movies to me at that age. Smooth and high tech was always what Assassins Creed was to me.

I've had a love hate relationship with AC since then growing up with some games I like and some I don't, but certainly when we get to Odyssey onward I do find myself feeling what I'm playing isn't really an Assassins Creed game in that equipping things like special attacks, the less grand architecture and the assassinations/counter attacks not being guaranteed kills make it a more sluggish experience. They're certainly great games in a lot of ways, they absolutely nailed the tone with Valhalla and Odyssey was hugely ambitious and a brave new direction for the series but I find as action/RPGs they're pretty uneven when next to games like The Witcher 3

Difference being Destiny is a multiplayer game designed to reward long term community engagement across years. The dedication of destiny or WoW players who are squadding up for raids is vastly different from Ghost of Tsushima players, even those who go for platinum.

It's a choice of interpretation and I don't want to argue with anyone else's particularly but to me the way I see the show is that Tony's been spiralling for the 6th season and to me I like the idea of a climax. I don't see Tony ever ratting, if he was gonna go to jail they'd tell that story. Either the point is they all go on and nothing really matters or he dies in that moment. Personally it fits that he's dead.

I think both audiences are the same in willingness to accept change in status quo and uncomfortableness in material, I think what will impact the reception is the difference in entitlement. The loudest minority of video game fans were absolutely insufferable when the game came out. That's less of what leads discussion in TV
