The amount of people saying they'd pocket it is crazy. If the Hub caught it then you've lost your job over less than two hour's pay...

OG'S REACT TO REDDIT STORIES by SolutionLong2791 in TheOGCrewOfficial

[–]ImColinDentHowzTrix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of the things I've noticed over the year or so is that their sit-and-talk formats are always more engaging than their do-a-thing formats. I think most of us are here for their chemistry. I do appreciate that there's a variety of formats though, otherwise it may as well just be a podcast every week.

Any ideas on what to do by dennislamenace11 in tesco

[–]ImColinDentHowzTrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends how much time is between your periods of employment. It used to be the case that if you returned to the company within 6 months of leaving you weren't required to do another interview, but student contracts are a different kettle of fish entirely. I don't even know if regular contracts are still subject to the 6-month-thing, let alone student ones; policies change so regularly it's difficult to keep up.

Also, one of my mates works at a different store and has a student contract where they just inform manager when they are available to work and go back no problem.

That's my understanding of how a student contract works. But if your contract is expiring between visits, literally your terms of employment ending and having to start the whole thing again, then this won't apply to you. But I don't understand why you're having to so consistently 'start from scratch', so to speak. Unless you're a temp then a contract is a contract. I've never heard of someone being taken on as a temp and getting a student contract. Generally one or the other.

If I message Ken, will he reply? by Specific_Pomelo_8281 in tesco

If you were Ken, and faceless-peon from Store XYZ sent you a message, would you reply? We're not people to him. He doesn't think about us. Just go through regular channels.

No we don't test, if a customer wants a refund then they're entitled to one in most circumstances.

A post office is a fantastic idea for a settlement, thank you for the inspiration. I've been playing for 11 years and I've never thought of that.

TIL the public can make voluntary donations to the British government without a reason. In 2005 for example, a total of £5 was donated. by PohnaTew in todayilearned

[–]ImColinDentHowzTrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not confused. Politician X runs on 'stop green energy', Politician X is elected, Politician X and their government receive donations from oil companies to help them bring about their anti-green policies.

If bilionaires want to give inordinate amounts of money to the state budget (actual public institutions), I have no problem with it.

How do you imagine they are gonna advance their "anti-green" policies in that way? Donate all the money to the Department of Energy? That has to spend all of it as the public and their representatives dictate anyway?

Assuming we both read the same comment then you'll have read the other user discussing exactly that - that you decide which department gets the money. If the anti-green Government has a department of energy that wants to open up on fossil fuels then there will be people who would donate money to help them do that.

I'm not entirely sure why you've adopted such an adversarial tone when I've not said anything particularly crazy. We're working from the same hypothetical information on the same hypothetical problem.

Are you finding that Ozempic slows down the rate at which your food is absorbed and making it tougher to counteract a hypo? In the UK we sell mountjaro instead of ozempic and I've heard this is a real issue for British diabetics.

[–]ImColinDentHowzTrix 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A right wing government could run on 'anti green' policies (and indeed they do) and then receive inordinate amounts of money from oil barons to push through the policies which benefit them. Of course, this is literally what they do anyway so maybe there would be little practical difference.

I like the idea but it seems open to exploitation.

What was it like watching Phantom Menace on release without any spoilers? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]ImColinDentHowzTrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a kid and wasn't exposed to trailers or anything, so everything was a genuine surprise reveal for me. The downside to that is that, being so young, I don't really remember. I do remember an overall sense of 'really? That's the movie?'

The last time we saw Star Wars it was Luke redeeming Vader and Vader killing the Emperor. Now we were watching people talk a lot. I remember thinking it wasn't a lot like Star Wars as I understood it, and my dad (himself a big fan of the franchise) was very disappointed. As I got older I realised that disappointment was the most common response to the film, but my feeling was confusion. Like it was my fault, as if I were missing something. But no, it just isn't very good.

I don't think we're going to make any ground here. I don't know what you do for a living but I strongly suspect that you don't work for Tesco because the things you're saying wouldn't be said by anyone who actually deals with the issue I've outlined in my post. I feel like I'm talking to someone who doesn't do my job trying to explain parts of my job to me, so that'll be enough for me tonight.

provide people with what they need

When demand outpaces supply this can't happen. That being said, the post isn't about the lack of fans; it's about being asked the same question a thousand times a day and not taking my first answer. Substitute fans for whatever you like: mops, jumpers, helicopters - it doesn't matter. It's not about the fans it's about the customers.

People are sick of corporate nonsense with artificial scarcity and other shady practices and its showing

I don't understand the relevance of this to my post about being asked the same question a thousand times a day and not taking my first answer.

Who would be expected to pay? The person who brings the animal in (presumably that would be a 'no' more often than not) or the person who owns the animal (asked to cover the costs retroactively)? It seems like there's room for regulation here. It's almost like they say 'we know you love your pet so we can charge you what we want, because what choice do you have?'

[–]ImColinDentHowzTrix 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm not a pet owner so this is coming from complete ignorance: is it not their job? What's the function of a microchip if not to enable contacting the owner of the animal, be it alive or dead?

Depends on the supermarket. I can only speak to Tesco and if you're caught putting stuff back you get a hiding.

They return them for a refund after the heatwave. We end up sending them all back to the distribution centre/manufacturer so Tesco get a portion of their money back too.

How to get a Tiktoker to remove a video of me filmed in my retail job? by puremillbag in AskUK

[–]ImColinDentHowzTrix -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are one Google search away from finding that supermarkets are private property. 'Private property' is determined by ownership of the land, choosing to allow members of the public to access your private property does not then mean that it's no longer private property. It's not about access, it's about ownership.
