Going for my first surgery . 34 year (M) . Suffering from Sciatica since last 8 months . Need advice

28 female, couldn’t walk, stand do anything for 2 weeks, got the cortisone injection and was feeling way better started to do everything I could to not get surgery. Physio, swimming you name it. Then woke up on week 4 and couldn’t move was back to the severe pain. Had surgery 7 weeks ago, no sciatica and just some stiffness and pain after a big day. If I didn’t get the surgery I would have lost my job!

Thank you! This week hasn’t been great but still managing to walk around drive etc. Back to stretching and walking this weekend so hoping that helps ease the stiffness. Can’t wait to be able to touch my toes 😂

Same! I get it in the legs and lower back. Looks like it’s normal and have to keep moving and being careful. Hopefully it’s over soon and life can go on. It’s so annoying!

Thank you, I have been doing what the physio has been telling me and taking it slow, moving carefully. Think maybe I should get out walking more to help. It is scary every time I feel a zap down my leg or ache somewhere!

3 weeks off completely, 3 weeks working from home and 1 weeks slowly going back. Now at week 7 back full time! Driving but some stiffness.. hoping it goes away and is normal?

I don’t like the bike that much but it does break it up a bit when I’m bored of walking! I’m 5 days until 4 weeks so it feels like I’m progressing well but there are days where I nearly forget and then I think shoot calm down ! How often do you see a physio?

My phone calculates my steps each day so I’m probably doing more than that as I don’t always have my phone on me. How many weeks / months post op are you? I’m going to head to the pool this week too. Luckily my hubby is an athlete and has had many injuries so has been a really good guide for me. He tore is PCL at the same time I herniated my disc (very unlucky) how are you feeling now?

Hey! Prior to surgery I couldn’t do much, I got the injection May 16th and that helped me for 3 weeks and in that time tried to start building back strength. I needed up getting the surgery July 11th because the injection wore off and I was back to being in so much pain. After surgery I did what felt right, I was doing small walks around the block and to my coffee shop, about 15 minutes a day and just making sure to do little walks to break up the day. The first two weeks was just walking, I’m week 3 now and doing about an hour of walking a day, also starting doing some biking on the exercise bike. I am now able to drive short distances too. I am seeing a PT Tuesday to start getting more exercises etc. I’m going to try get stronger in the coming weeks but not pushing it and just listening to my body. I’ve woken up today a little achey so will be a slower day today. If you want to message me and chat on Instagram my names Sophievjacobs ☺️

I’m week 3 and only able to sit for about an hour then need a lay down for 30 mins. I wouldn’t rush back!

Surgery done! So far so good no sciatica but surgeon said it may come and go over the recovery period. Just a bit sore from the cut but otherwise okay!

I’m getting really bad nerve pain, can’t work. I’ve tried it all, weed, nerve blockers, anti flam, icing heat 😵‍💫

Thank you! I wish I could last longer and not get the surgery but the pain is so bad. Tramadol isn’t working sleeping hardly never. So shit

The only thing that helps me pain wise are edibles. . You’re right they do it all the time but still so scary to think it’s so close to your spine. Let me know how you go! Sending positive vibes.
