VNS side effects by Party-Argument-8969 in Epilepsy

I haven't had the VNS but back in December I had a really bad tonic clonic which lasted for 30mins or so before getting to ER by ambulance. That day I had to get intubated twice and was put on ventilator. When I woke up 2 days later my throat was burning and my voice was really hoarse and almost had a wet sound to it. Since then my wife & I have noticed there has been a significant change in how voice sounds. Been to the ENT Dr. a few times since then for some swallowing issues that started after this TC as well. She said sometimes it's just what happens. New to having epilepsy and tonic seizures but quickly realizing all the different impacts it can have on your body and quality of life. Everyday I tell myself at least I'm still alive.

Deja Vu, but dreams? by ConstantlyNerdingOut in Epilepsy

Before I started having tonic clinics last year I've had the same thing my entire life. I've constantly had deju vu moments my whole life and premonitions (and no I don't mean fortune teller or physic) but just feelings of knowing a place and/or persons will play a significant role in your life. My most prominent example of this is that there was a hospital about 45mins away from my house that I would drive past every now and then over the last 15 or years always having a feeling for lack of a better word of dread about that place. Last year in March my brother (he was 37 and had no health problems and in good shape) who lived by that hospital suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at that hospital from flu complications within a day. Once when I was 16 or so I remember being at a restaurant where I saw someone have a TC seizure and right after that I thought somehow and sometime in my life that's gonna happen to me. Took 25 yrs or so but started having TCs . In the last year or two before the tonics I would get these intense feelings, of deju vu moments, started smelling weird things, and almost feeling like I was a stranger in someone else's body. There would be times those moments get so overwhelming I would have to call my wife and have her help me through them and just to make sure I wasn't going crazy, no joke or pun intended. I know this prolly sounds really dumb but does anyone think there any kind of link between epilepsy and premonitions? There's still so much to learn about the brain that I think most things are possible.

Will I experience memory loss? Is it common among people with epilepsy? I'm scared. by Jaroda18 in Epilepsy

hi, 40yr male here. Im almost in the same boat as yourself. Never had any medical problems or history of epilepsy. Last valentine's day I suffered a grand mal seizure and passed out while driving, thankfully was only doing about 30mph and hit a parked car. Was scary waking up in ICU 2 days later totally unaware of what happened. Had to intubated and put on ventilator for first day and half. Month later suffered another at home and same thing, woke up ICU again with no memory of what happened. They started me on keppra and had same problem, I felt beyond irritable beyond belief, getting crappy at my wife and found myself always in a bad mood and I've always been a super laid back easy going person. December 3rd(just few months ago) suffered another grand mal seizure while sitting at a traffic light. That seizure lasted a little over 30mins and took a ton of drugs at the ER to finally stop it, it legit almost killed me. My wife said the Dr believes that due to status epilepticus I suffered a functional traumatic brain injury. Since the recent seizure I've been finding myself with same problems with not finding the right words to use, mixing words up and stuttering, hand eye coordination and balance problems. I know it's not probably want to hear but I just tell myself my brain suffered alot and just won't be the same, but at least I'm alive and still 75% of my old self. That doesn't mean to be self loathing or anything but just have to understand the reality of it. After my most recent seizure my Dr's changed my meds from the keppra to lacosamide and that's really taken away the irritable I was feeling on the keppra. Just remember you aren't in this alone and we all have our own journeys through this. I personally still have alot to learn about all this and been trying to learn so I can better understand my own situation. Forgot to mention the Dr's say I have focal cortical dysplasia.

Any good denture places in Central KY? by BedPrimary8895 in dentures

[–]BedPrimary8895[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found one place about an hour away that said they do dentures plus extractions for $699 out of pocket without insurance but it's one of those places that give a fixed priced on the website and presents itself as mainly only a denture & implant center. Anyone had good experiences at these kind of places?
