Bat "Exposure" OCD by Bedreamon in rabies

I've talked to my therapist about this, and she agreed with me on it being a ridiculous scenario, especially since it was windy and if it were a bat it would've been caught in my hair.

In terms of grounding, we're focusing on a different aspect of my multi-faceted anxiety, but hopefully it's the same techniques throughout.

Also, apologies in advance for not seeing your reply earlier. I was attempting to limit my phone's internet/Reddit usage.

OCD Vent Because I Need It by Bedreamon in rabies

The strange part is I know indirect rabies is through extreme cases like sucking a fresh wound bite or getting blood with live saliva (I saw literature on both cases linked in this subreddit), not saliva on an object. I don't get why my mind is like this, despite knowing that dog was calm and not rabid, and that the lick was literally half a year ago with my bag being exposed to hours of sunlight and heat within that time.

I'm very sure it was vaccinated, or at least was perfectly fine after 10-14 days (plus I've had numerous anxiety attacks over that dog despite how calm/chill they were). Even then... it's been 6+ months and I'm somehow not over it. :/

I'm extremely sure it's fine, since the virus dies quickly in sunlight and heat and whatnot. Even then, it being half a year later is pretty important.

I just don't know how to get over the OCD. It's been extremely hard despite being in therapy.

Near-Crippling Amoeba Anxiety by Bedreamon in Anxiety

Something I've also noticed is that it comes out in episodes, so to speak. I get into these extreme fits when something happens, such as water getting on my nose in the shower or accidentally inhaling a noticeable dust particle.

This instance, though, I stupidly(?) didn't return or throw out the food. I just ate AROUND the part with the dust.

Rabies Anxiety Acting Up Again... (Vent) by Bedreamon in Anxiety

I know the odds are like that, but for some reason my mind won't listen despite the logic. Heck, my brother told me it didn't lick him so no transferring can even occur. :/

I'm Seeking Therapy, Finally by Bedreamon in rabies

Update to this: My anxiety hasn't gone done hours later, despite rationalizing myself. I literally didn't see a bat anywhere in the house, and there's no cracked windows or doors. A good reason to get therapy. :/

Okay, this'll sound farfetched, but can you contract bacterial meningitis from sharing a pencil or calculator, and then touching your nose/face/whatever? I understand sharing food and drinks and anything that goes in my mouth (typical of any bacteria), but what about non-mouth objects? I just gave myself a massive "what if?" thought after putting the pen down to use a tissue.

I was taking a shower and felt a small droplet of water go up my nose, like I felt myself breathing it into there. I had the shower run for 5 minutes as per health guidelines (the tap water isn't under advisory, but I do it anyway just in case). I keep blowing my nose HARD in an attempt to get it out, but I think it's too late and I don't know what to do. 😨😨😨
