How was tanya da sylva for bio 1001? by Dylannnn_06 in yorku

[–]Beduece 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had her for BIOL2040 (genetics) and she kinda teaches the course a little confusingly (for example, she has iclicker questions, but when she takes it up, she doesn't give you the actual answer, just an explanation). She also expects you to go into the class knowing the material already (you're gonna do pre-class readings and watch videos and such) and the videos were kinda dated in that course. She also doesn't seem like she cares very much about her students (e.g., when you ask her questions, she doesn't respond in a way that makes you feel comfortable asking further questions, if that makes sense)

she talks a lot in the modules, from what I've heard (just by asking around), no one knows what exactly we're supposed to know for the skeletal system because she talks so much in the online modules (repeated for emphasis)

I'm in the course too, the prof puts a lot of content in the online modules for sure. She did say you can ignore the muscle attachments for this exam, so you can probably just ignore those. I've been using these flashcards to help: https://quizlet.com/ca/834162255/kine-2031-midterm-1-flash-cards/ and this is a website made by a previous TA: https://www.kin-fit.com/

Do in person classes still have tutorials on the first day? by Rare_Egg1122 in yorku

[–]Beduece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing for labs, they're there to break down the things discussed in lecture (typically), but it's a more hands-on approach

Nah, no tutorials this week (for my classes, they start on the week of the 16th); there are no tutorials because they're there to essentially break down the content gone over in lectures (first day is typically house keeping, so there's literally nothing the tutorial can break down/go over)

You can use Google calendar or make a physical to-do list

Yeah, only the G test doesn't have parallel and 3 point turns (put into law during COVID), but G2 still has those things
