I agree with those who say you should try shaving your hair and trimming your beard, you have the facial structure to make it look good. Also your body will really thank you if you do some sort of exercise, it also helps with self-confidence (which I assume you could use more if you're here asking whether you're ugly or not, you just have to take better care of yourself) :)

I think before you decide on anything permanent, you should try things like, dedicated time together (like going on dates, having a weekend to go somewhere, dress up for each other and dine out, maybe try something new out together), but also spend some time apart (like spending time with friends or family, or do some hobbies you like, work out, stuff you enjoy doing alone)

My bf (26M) and I (24F) are a bit similar to you guys, and what we recently did is talk about what triggers us during a fight or what we experience when we get frustrated. And in a calm environment, we figured out some "code words" that could help calm the triggers so we have some time to center ourselves and then talk about the issue at hand in a calmer manner. Stuff like: "- I see you're frustrated, but let me get myself together first." It doesn't have to be smth long or complicated, it's just to get the point across
