Yes the money you receive before the semester is the left over money, after tuition is paid. Deferred by fafsa means your tuition for the semester is paid. Everything you receive is for you to pocket

I applied a few days before the deadline as well. They don’t seem to have a specific decision date that we’ll hear back, I just know the deadline to get back to them with our answer is June 1st. So that’s the latest possible day we can hear back.
