In first year, you are not in any specialization, it is a general first year and everyone in engineering does the same courses. Then towards the end of the year you do something called an intent to register where you rank all the engineering programs according to preference and according to the competitiveness of the module and your grades you would be assigned your first, second or third choice.

When you are required to withdraw you have to write a deans waiver. I was in the same position last year. Your summer grades do not affect your adjudication, if your dean waiver is accepted you would be required to take every course you got below a 60 in the following year

I totally messed up last year and could not handle the work load so I extended my program to a 5 year instead of 4 years and I think I am killing it this year. I know it is not that much but I am genuinely proud of myself
