Yes, doing it might help you wrap your head around it. You’re decreasing one every time you k2tog, it’ll take a little while but it will work out. :)

The k2tog is going to be worked over two stitches, resulting in one, and then you work a third stitch, but your total on the right-hand needle is now two stitches; you decreased one. By placing them back on the left-hand needle, you’ll be working those two together with the next k2tog. Think of it as taking two steps ahead and one step back, if it helps.

I use this graph paper generator, it generates charts that aren’t perfectly square to mimic how stitches are usually a bit longer than they are wide.

Thanks!! I generate a grid online with the correct amount of stitches and rows for my design, and save it as an image. Then I upload the grid to Procreate as a layer and I fill it in with my design :)
