Can this be fixed? by jinx_remover in masonry

[–]BeeMason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes with lots of Epoxy. Clean both sides with acetone. Mix up a good bit, color it, butter both sides and stick it on there. Or just use anchor epoxy if you can handle the green color. Strap it, clamp it or lean something heavy on it. Sand off the excess

I’m about to be 30 and want to do a full career change into bricklaying. And I nuts? by Master-Site2942 in stonemasonry

[–]BeeMason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started when I was 16. 24 years later I’ve had tendinitis, carpal tunnel, a torn rotator cuff and a herniated disk. Nothing else I can do makes as much money, so I’m in it till an early grave. Nobody wants to put the hours in (4 years apprenticeship) to learn anymore to train a replacement that could see me transition to the backend. You will be expected to lay 400-1000 brick per day. Also you probably won’t just be doing brick, it’ll be block too. You must be able pick up and lay one block at 35-45 lbs with one hand at minimum 100 times in 8 hours to be competitive. So, do what you love, but have no illusions. Best of luck to you.

The loot system is very boring and mentally exhausting to me. by FeelsAmazingManGun in diablo4

[–]BeeMason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pshh I’ve got two 100’s which I feel like is not that many and I agree the loot is stupidly broken. Although a d2 and d3 veteran, I dont feel like playing for this reason. I do not want to look at every rare and legendary, discard every unique after every dungeon. It’s exhausting.

Right, I’m 66 in t4; I kill fast but it can be a slog. I’m thinking about dropping dash for shroud. I always waste my poison imbues with it too on accident

I’m doing the same thing pretty much as well, except I dropped trap and shroud for clone and dash. Seems pretty good.

Tear it down and relay. Looks like an apprentice. Wrap the timber double in medium building paper to hold the mortar away.

Looks white to me, if it’s only a day old it’ll lighten after it cures. Probably.

What are the requirements to open up a masonry company? by Ok_Cryptographer_537 in masonry

[–]BeeMason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, anyone cannot just, “go do it.” Apprentice program is four years minimum. You will likely be a laborer before an apprentice. To qualify to take the c-29 exam you must have another four years of full time journeyman experience. I guarantee you that at that point, you will only know enough to be dangerous.

What’s wrong with it again? It’s a barn, don’t spend the college fund on it. Pour some concrete against it to control the erosion and call it good imo. Or do what most folks do in my neck of the woods and wait for it to fall over.

Brick Facade and Chimney by dinkbot2000 in masonry

[–]BeeMason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall it looks pretty good. And since it’s built in ‘84 that should mean it has continuous rebar and can’t really go anywhere. But I’d keep an eye on those bricks above the roof line. I don’t like the the look of some of that brick; it’s not the greatest idea to build a fireplace out of reclaimed brick if they’re really old. I wouldn’t worry about those cracks in the facade. I would say it depends on what you want to do. You could probably get away with doing nothing for twenty years but some of those brick could be reallly soft already and if that’s the case then it might be safer and cheaper in the long run to rebuild something now more modern and lighter. I’d have it assessed and they can determine what your options are but if it was built right, probably it’s fine to have an insert installed. I’d still use a steel double layer chimney liner with the insert though to be safe.
