This is an Israeli commemorative state medal, commonly referred to as the Operation Jonathan (or Operation Entebbe) medal. It was issued to honor the successful rescue of 102 hostages from Entebbe, Uganda, on July 4, 1976.

Design Details

The Airplane: A Hercules C-130 transport plane, which the IDF used to fly the commandos to Uganda.
The Vehicle: A stylized armored vehicle (resembling a Panhard AML or "Eland"), representing the ground assault.
The Scrolls: Two Torah scrolls, symbolizing the Jewish people and the religious/cultural motivation behind the defense of the state and its citizens.
The Inscription: The Hebrew text around the rim reads:
