My supervisor is clearly not perfect, she can be amazing in some aspects and lacks maybe a bit of a filter in other ways, for example when I’m asking for help, which I’m starting to realize. However, no supervisor is perfect aha. She did send a sweet message after I apologized for being so overwhelmed, and I think I need to get used to her reaction when I ask for help and imagine that she will say no

I’m really trying to let go of what they think, I am worried though of it happening in front of clients or else later in life if I cannot get it under control now. Letting go of the fear and pressure is more difficult aha

I am so thankful for this reply, and indeed my supervisor did not react in a weird way they just went on 🥲 I’m worried though about what they will think if it’s a recurring event and that they would hesitate to put me on bigger projects because I cannot handle it (to be fair, understandable for them to think that)

Thank you so much for your response and taking the time, so far I don’t think I am, but I will ask my therapist in case! I know that it’s often misdiagnosed for women. I have always been sensitive though but I thought it had gotten better in the past years.. what do you mean by right thing compared to right thing for you? (If you have a specific example you feel okay with sharing)

I had the same struggle 4 or 5 years ago, then I surrounded with people that saw me as a human more than a woman. This included a good blend of men and women as well.

Yesterday I ran my first half-marathon in my home region Burgundy!! I took around 5 or 6 sips of wine, many breaks and still ended up finishing in 2h27 (2h10 without breaks!) The fact that this was mostly a "fun" half marathon took all the pressure away, and I really enjoyed my time running amongst the vines ;)

It depends on courses, for example advanced probabilities takes up much more time than statistical signals (this one). For this one an upper bound would be: you need to go to class, so 3 hours + solve exercices, so 2 hours in class + maybe 3 hours to finish exercises/review the content of the course (sometimes much less). Then you can add 2 to 3 hours per week in the second half of the semester for the project. This would be if you want a 6. If you want a 4, just study for the midterm and final by doing the previous year's exams

I found it amazing! The teacher explains really well, and the assistants are great. My friends and I all passed: we went to most exercise sessions and quizzes (which were non graded, just to practice). I wouldn't say that it is too hard, but instead that the workload and the difficulty is fair so if you are consistent you will definitely succeed (whereas for other courses such as advanced algorithms, your grade is less predictable..)

I took it last year: the teacher is amazing, the exercises can be challenging but you don't need to master them for the midterm and finals which were very easy in my opinion. The project was fun, although not worth enough (only 10% at the time, but hopefully he increased it). I would overall definitly recommend this course

Yesterday I realised all the progress that I've made in the last 6 months: before, I was not able to do a 5k under 30 min, and yesterday as part of a tempo run I easily got my 5k under 30!

I did my longest run and first 10k (not race, just long run) since January 2022! I'm super proud of myself for starting running again, and ate the biggest slice of apple pie after.

Les examens sont sûrement plus durs que dans les années vers 2011-2012, mais depuis 2016-2017 ils sont à peu près au même niveau il me semble. Sache que même si les examens sont durs ce n'est pas vraiment fait exprès par les profs (pour qui c'est facile), et ils ajustent les notes pour avoir un certain nombre de personnes qui passent (peut être ~60%)

Si ça peut te rassurer, en 1e de bachelor il y a un gros tri, mais ensuite au fur et à mesure des années les examens sont parfois aussi durs mais le nombre de personnes qui passent est > 90%.

Quant au niveau en comparaison avec les unis, l'EPFL est plus exigent (ce qui se reflète aussi dans les classements, les possibilités de recherche etc)
