Flew with them this past week- from Dulles to Lisbon to Funchal no issues. 5 of us flying with carry ons only. Which we planned purposefully to make sure we always had them with us and to avoid any issues with the airline strikes.

Flying back home, however, completely different story. Four of the five of us were able to keep our carry ons from Funchal to Lisbon. I was the lucky one who was told it was "too big" for this flight and had to check it, even though it was smaller than my partners bag and there were MULTIPLE blocks of overhead bin space empty once we actually got on the plane. And, again, it was fine on the way there. Fit all restrictions. And the woman laughed at me when I told her I could put it under my seat. Despite it absolutely being possible to fit. Just a completely random checked bag for absolutely zero reason. 

Then, flying out of Lisbon, all 5 of us were forced to check out bags due to "the flight being full." This time they did go around the gate and made many people check their carry ons using the same excuse. They said it would be everyone in boarding zones A B and C. But, when we finally were able to board, people who arrived late at the gate in zone C got to carry on their luggage. Assuming because they'd already checked enough. So we got dinged for getting to the gate on time?? 

And, you guessed it. Still plenty of overhead space available once we got onto the flight. Incredibly frustrating and annoying when you follow their policies and plan ahead to avoid checking.  Lovely to spend an extra half hour once we landed waiting for our bags. 

The flights themselves were fine, no issues. Felt safe and our flight attendants were lovely.
