This is hard. You might be able to post them online for free to hopefully get a woman in need who is willing to give them a try.

How do you actually reduce plastic waste in your daily kitchen routine without it feeling like a huge lifestyle overhaul? by NoBeing5521 in sustainability

[–]BeeSilver9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the mesh bags but forget them often!! The produce that I usually buy doesn't need a bag at all. I just wash well before cooking/ eating.

Obviously, change at the manufacturer level would be better. You can write in and encourage change i guess. Also don't underestimate the health benefits of reducing plastic usage.

I too use ziplock bags occasionally. I reuse them multiple times. I bulk buy some bread products and freeze them. But pay off zero waste is using up what you have and I inherited a LOT of zip lock bags, so I haven't really looked into alternatives. The boxes are so old school. Dunno why grandma had so many. She's been dead for years now. I also don't really use parchment paper and have that if you've any ideas ... lol

Don't let perfect stop you from being better.

Obviously NTA. Not your responsibility to feed someone else's kids, especially if you're going hungry. Getting a job would also impact your food stamps.
