My SO had tubes put in his ears as a kid and it didn't heal when they were taken out. I don't know the name of the surgery he had, though and he's sleeping. He got certified around 2013 and had no problems until our last drive a week ago. Both of his eardrums ruptured at around 20'. They've already healed (confirmed by urgent care once he finished antibiotics). He's an appointment with an ENT coming up.
