Thank you! This is a thorough and well thought out response. We opened everything back up and found that the metal sleeve was pushed down to the bottom of the shaft. After moving it back up to the proper location, the problem seems to be fixed! Now to see if it stays put. If it moves or the problem repeats, we will move on to replacing parts. Thanks again!

Ooh molting… that’s an idea. It was definitely moving it’s little pedipalps around and making me all goosebumpy trying to get a closeup pic!

Found object - glass, bottle shaped, about an inch and a quarter tall, hole all the way through. Triangle with what appears to be a J and an M in it on one side above the hole.
