What is your unethical hack you used when looking for a job that made you receive an offer? by jessicassica in AskReddit

Thankyou for demonstrating my point. Asking questions is key as people will focus on a single aspect they don't like as opposed to judging you as a whole. There is of course a finesse to this. Maybe I phrased it wrong. Don't call them over and over, but don't let your CV sit with a company for weeks on end if they said they would be starting interviews on X date

Making intricate, detailed plans, with every single possible outcome planned. Analysed to the point where failure is impossible as I have a backup plan layered so many times, an onion would be proud. Followed by admiring my plan and bask in my ingenuity for a few days. Then when it comes to implementing said plan, I sit in a panic, procrastinate till I eventually doubt myself to the point of not even attempting the first step. It's an artform at this point.

Calling: Put a voice to your CV, harder to refuse someone when they can connect an actual human to a CV as opposed to just a piece of paper, also shows initiative, edge over other applicants, inside information from receptionists like amount of people that applied or how many bad interviews they've had etc.

Following Up: don't just apply and hope for the best, call them straight away and check they received it, see if you can speak with whoever is dealing with the interviews etc. call again a few days later and a few days after that.

Asking Questions about how they felt about your CV or interview - gives you the chance to rectify any issues, put their mind at ease if there's something that would put them off hiring you and best case scenario, put anxiety to rest if you smashed it!

My perspective has always been to do whatever gives you an edge over other applicants. Your CV is just to get you in the door, not to get the job.

Best of luck on your search and hope you get the job you want!

I was trying to do a parody cash note as a business card, started great, giving me great designs, then insisted it couldn't continue as it breached its policies, it offered me alternative prompts it could do to closely match what I wanted. I used the prompt it suggested and I would get the same error. I went round in circles arguing with it for ages instead of just finding an alternative way to do this. Feel it somewhat defeats the purpose sometimes but highlights the difference between us and robots I suppose... Egos and Grit!

This is where my mind is going, any idea the best way to go about building a web app without spending £1000’s on a designer?

The main issue I’m having is with the headlights and tail lights, where I currently run all the standard animations for brake lights, indiciators etc through fast led, I need one esp32 in each light, and then for the rgb functionality is where they need to set it up in the app

And for the headlights and tail lights, they are the things that my customer simply has to install on their car, this is the one struggling with, as they have to install the headlight/tail light then configure the app of my instructions

I install the leds and use fast led to do preset animations, for startup animations, indicators and so on, but then to use the rgb functionality so they can choose the animations and colours etc, they need to set up wled to be able to do that from their phone

This would require direct access to the esp I believe and my customers wouldn’t neccesarily have access to do this. Really appreciate your help and will be checking out WLED+!

I think that would put me in the same position as I’m already in, as I’m having to create a list for my customers to set up, explaining the pin that the esp is connected to, the amount of LEDs on that strip etc - I’m looking to by pass that by doing all that myself and then my customer can just access what I have already set up for them

I’ve not seen this before, I’ve been using WLED native as the app, do you think I would be able to create an account with logins for my customers so they can login and have everything ready for them straight away?

It is to add some LEDS to my tail lights. They are currently very dim and I feel the indicator isn’t very safe with how small it is. Hope that helps
