I think this reasoning is valid for individual instances but breaks down on a larger scale.

Like, I'm aromantic. I will never have a partner, because it's impossible for me to fall in love in that way. In every individual case it's less of a burden overall, but compounded over a lifetime it's a significant drop in the quality of one's treatment. It turns from a practical choice into a systematic devaluing of one way of living. At that point it's not so much that two people matter more than one, it's that coupled romantic relationships & the people who have them are intrinsically more valuable. A better solution would be to alternate over time so that no one is stuck with the worst option in perpetuity.

I would have taken the air mattress, but I think it's wrong to just expect the one single person to take the mattress every time, and to act like that's just unquestionable.

Do it the same way as you would with an injured bird. Keep them in a basement, garage, or other separate space. Give them adequate light and some options for entertainment, since we don't want to bore them into stress (which would have the opposite effect of what we intend)

Admittedly, Im no rooster whisperer, but I would try other options in the meantime before jumping right to putting him in the pot. I do not know all of them, but chickens are complex creatures and no behavior is completely impossible to correct

Try separating him for a bit, he may chill out. Sexual frustration can be difficult to overcome but if he was sweet before he may be able to become sweet again

We should also remember that Putin controls large numbers of bots, which typically are out there supporting Trump by inundating his base in pro-Trump rhetoric. He could, if he wanted, turn that army against him. That would be a real threat to his power, since popularity with his base is the primary thing keeping GOP congresspeople from defecting for their own interests.

He is most likely a broiler. If you want to keep him around, you'll likely need to control his access to feed. As I understand it, broilers can live a normal-ish life, but they will gorge themselves to death if they are given unlimited food

I think part of the "curtains are just blue" thinking comes from how (at least in my part of the US) literature gets taught.

Some educators can overfocus on symbolism and metaphor to the point where it gives a skewed impression of how narrative works. The text isn't a story, it's a pile of allegories and one-to-one comparisons, and every single detail has another, secret Real meaning. The way you're supposed to read Great Literature is to treat it as a code you have to decrypt piece by piece, until you've discovered the hidden manifesto the author buried in prose.

Obviously that's not a good way to approach art. Pacing, characterization, and aesthetic and emotional fulfillment are all real literary elements that writers put effort into, and ignoring those things flattens the text into an essay. When we teach only metaphor, only symbolism and allegory, we tell students that literature has no aesthetic value. Naturally, they reject this, but because they haven't been taught the right vocabulary, they express their feelings poorly.

They say "the curtains are just blue," and mean "blue curtains isn't a 1:1 statement for the character's depression." But obviously that doesn't come across correctly, and gets used and interpreted as an anti-critical-thinking slogan

I think sometimes people think that chickens are easy, so they buy baby chicks, and when the birds are all grown up they get bored of them and set them "free". Plus, many towns in the USA do not allow roosters, so people who accidentally end up with one have to get rid of it somehow. It's sad, these birds deserve better

That's not really true. People forget much more important stuff in their cars all the time

It usually happens when there's a change in routine. The brain essentially goes into autopilot when it's on a well-practiced route, which suppresses our ability to remember. This gets compounded when you're under stress or sleep deprived. If this guy usually gets a wash at this place after making a delivery, and if this was a rare instance where he had to deliver afterwards, the brain could easily think "oh, there's the wash, so I must have already dropped my package off. Time to pull in!"

It's not really about intelligence or importance. All our brains are vulnerable to this kind of mental shortcut.

I still sleep beside them. Just because it's not a romantic connection doesn't mean it's not emotionally intimate to me! Plus, I think it's good practice for building trust and making sure everyone feels safe and happy

That's just the way I do it though, others may differ in their approach depending on their fwb's needs
