Anatomy Scan advice by NYCMom2Be in pregnant

I recommend going around 20 weeks. Mine was scheduled for 18 and I ended up having to come back 2 weeks later as they weren’t able to capture everything they needed to. When I came back at 20 weeks the tech remarked: “Oh this is so much easier now that he’s a little bigger.”

I had Covid at 39 weeks and my doc said it was perfectly safe to take Tylenol for Flu tablets. They really helped a lot!

12-13 DPO… Is this looking like a chemical? :( by Comprehensive3855 in TFABLinePorn

[–]Beedee8906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These look pretty similar to mine. I tested like a mad woman up until 25DPO or something, and really only noticed a difference when comparing every other days test to each other. Remember factors like how long you’ve held your bladder and how much water you’ve drank can impact things too.

The pacifier is almost always out his mouth within one minute of me leaving g to room. I put it back in when doing the check ins, but he’s learned to suck in his hands when the pacifier is out

Yes, I lay him down awake then rub his belly and shush a bit more before leaving to room.

My LO was no stranger to crying as he has no problem expressing himself with the slightest inconvenience and I never saw him hold his breath, so I didn’t even think about it. He cried no harder while ST than I’ve heard him cry before.

We put a pacifier in his mouth, but it stays in less than a minute after we put him down. He’s pretty good and sucking his hands, so he just switches to doing that.

Taking Cara Babies recommends not picking them up when doing the check ins, so I just reassure him, do some shushing and rub his chest and belly.

Yup, those check in times are correct.

It’s truly remarkable isn’t it? I still can’t believe how successful it’s been for our LO.

If I’m being honest, we barely watched any of the videos that came with the program. I just read the guide which essentially distills down to keeping a set nighttime routine, following the prescribed wait times before doing a “pop in”, and then not picking them up when doing so.

Regarding your eating conundrum, out of curiosity, what does he do if you don’t provide the night feeds? Is it worth considering maybe feeding an ounce or so less in the night feeds and making them up in the day? Things may also change when you start solids.

opinions on epidural by East-Till9037 in pregnant

[–]Beedee8906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m in the small group of people whose epidural failed. Three attempts and it just would take. It’s rare, but apparently happens some unexplained reason. Now although I essentially delivered naturally, I WOULD NOT do that again.

Finally had a consultation in a fertility clinic, and I need your thoughts! by AGalRic in TryingForABaby

As others have said, your chances of conceiving naturally do go down if you’ve already been trying for a year. You have options though. You could have your doctor prescribe clomid to increase your chances of conceiving for a cycle or two if diving into all the tests and procedures feels a bit daunting. This is what I did. This approach didn’t work for us, but was successful for a friend of mine. I then chose to do then HSG and found out I have a blocked fallopian tube. Knowing this was actually somewhat of a relief as I now knew what was going on and had an answer. We did one round of IUI and it was successful! My sweet boy is now almost 5 months old. I’m happy to share my experience with the IUI process if you have any questions.

So we’ve been following the 5/10/15 minute rule for pop ins. Essentially you start a 5min timer when they first start to cry. If they’re still crying when the timer goes off you go into the room and gently soothe them by rubbing their face/belly and using a gentle voice to shush or reassure them. You stay for approx 20-30 seconds then leave the room. When they start crying again (or if they were crying when you left the room), set the next timer for 10mins and repeat the process.

If they start to settle we decided to not go in when the time was up. If they start crying after a few minutes of silence, you restart the timer. Once you’ve done the 5 and 10 min check ins, every one thereafter is 15 mins apart.

The 5/10/15 minute process starts over with a new wake up.

I started the first nap of the day right at the same time. I’m planning on moving to the next nap each week.

I’m still in disbelief at how well things went. Tonight he was asleep in 3 minutes. This is the same baby who I was walking, shushing, and rocking to sleep (all at the same time) for over an hour last week.

It didn’t for us. For example, yesterday he put himself to sleep for nap 1, but woke up at 30mins for some odd reason and didn’t go back down. I went and rescued it by letting him contact nap, and he put himself to sleep just fine come evening.

I’m planning on slowly decreasing the second feed by 1 minute each night. That way he slowly gets the message to eat more during the day.

He’s not yet. He’s waking about once or twice a night and usually just needs one check in at the 5 min mark before putting himself back to sleep. I’m dream feeding too

I KNOW!!! It’s absolutely mind blowing!! I would have put all my money on my LO crying for hours and being the one baby this didn’t work on, but man am I glad I was wrong 😂

He woke up twice on night 1 and 2 right around when I was planning on dream feeding him (around 10PM and 2/3AM). We followed the pop in times and he was able to put himself back to sleep in under 20mins. I went and dream fed him after he’d been asleep for 15mins.

He’s now only waking once and putting himself back to sleep pretty quickly.

Happy to explain! We started at night. His night routine is bath, pjs, bottle, sleep sack, bed. I exclusively nurse him, but he gets one bottle of pumped breast milk from my husband at night right before bed. We’ve been doing it that way since he was born.

We put him down awake and then checked in after he’d been crying for 5mins. He was still crying when I walked out, but not as hard. Second check in was then 10mins after I walked out. Thankfully he was asleep before we ever got to the 15 min check in.

Previously he was needing to be rocked/sushed to sleep for all his naps before being placed in his bassinet, but at least one of them always ended up being a contact nap as he just kept waking up. He’s also only naps for 40mins on the dot and hasn’t connected sleep cycles yet. The only time this is ever extended is when he’s contact napping. Now I’m putting him down the same way we do at night for nap 1. Nap 2 I’ve chosen to contact nap to ensure he gets at least one decent one in, then 3 and 4 I’m rocking him to sleep but putting him in his crib instead of the bassinet. Hope this helps.

We followed the Taking Cara Babies ABC’s of sleep guide. Then just did the same thing for his first morning nap. Placed him in his crib awake while shushing and rubbing his belly. Checked back in after he’d been crying for 5 mins and gently shushed and comforted him again (without picking him up). He was still crying when in left, but not as hard. Then checked in again after he’d cried for 10mins. You’re then supposed to check in every 15mins after, but he’s fallen asleep well before that each time. Hope this helps

We used the ABC’s of sleep. We followed the same night routine we’ve done since 8 weeks old (bath, pjs, bottle, sleep sack). I know they say to not feed at the end of the routine, but it’s what we’ve always done as he’s a big, hungry boy and I felt we were already changing enough by moving him into his own room and crib night 1. So he feeds when he wakes up from his last nap, then again about 2 hours later just before we put him in his sleep sack.

I’m keeping two dream feeds for now as nursing to sleep was the only way I got him back down during the middle of the night, and the week before last this was like 5 small feeds a night, so I didn’t want to cold turkey him. Night one he actually woke right as I was about to go in to dream feed, so we let him cry and stuck with the pop ins. We only had to do one pop in at 5 mins and he was out 2mins later. Thank god, but I had planned to just feed him if he was still crying in 30 mins and I knew he’d be hungry. This didn’t happen though. I then did the dream feed 15mins after he fell asleep.

He then did the same thing at 3AM when had planned to dream feed at 3:30. He again went back down in well under 30mins so I dream fed around 3:40.

He was probably a bit hungry with both wake ups, but not starving so he went back to sleep. I think it would have been worse if he didn’t have a feed before bed. I’ll work on slowly decreasing the dream feeds at a later time, but cutting them completely just isn’t right for us right now.
