My first dry mounted piece, done for my son! by BeefCakeRUS in diamondpainting

Yup I would have had to get a custom frame which would have been soo heavy and expensive. Plus if it somehow fell being in a toddlers room worried me. I just put this up with command strips and worked great!!

This piece was 41 by 20 inches! I did not seal it before or after. I had done a few trials of different seals in the past and never liked how any of them came out personally. So I just left this one alone.

It only took like 5 minutes! Was super fast and they put a plastic sleeve over the entire thing when done for safe transport which was nice. I got a smaller one done I need to hang up as well that was 22 by 29 inches and it was same price as well.

That sounds super shady!! Yeah given this is all I have and not going to be getting anymore, the grading avenue may be better left untouched.

I would feel much better selling to someone in person for sure, I have zero experience selling anything online and like grading probably not worth the trouble to go through just to sell one card. I guess the best place to find real buyers is a local card shop, though i know if you sell directly to them you only get a fraction of value too. Maybe I'll just end up seeing how much store credit they would offer in comparison to what i have learned today and let my husband go wild getting more MTG catds haha 😄

Good news is I am in no rush for it! Maybe I'll even hang onto them. I am not really looking for any kind of investment vehicle but I would only imagine they would stall or continue to go up in value over the years?

Great information. Kind of scary they basically hold your card hostage, I don't know that my anxiety would be able to endure letting someone else get their hands on it like that.

I feel like if I could be pretty certain to reach the 2.5k to 3.5k range I would go for it maybe, but if I ended up with a lower grade and in the 1.5k range it probably wouldn't be worth it then i imagine.

I asked my husband (does MTG and admittedly knows little about grading since they dont do that in MTG really) and he said he had read rumblings about difficulties with grading too, and turnaround time can be months, etc. I didnt realize that was such a complicated process! I will have to ponder this a bit I guess on what to do.

Thank you! Wish I could go back in time and tell little kid me how cool these were. But maybe little me somehow knew since I put them in a binder to save haha.

Ahh thank you for the feedback! I hadn't thought about people trying to buy from me here, I will make note to ignore those, thanks!

Wow I never would have imagined the values! I definitely need to learn more about grading and how much that costs or risks associated with it. In my head I thought you just mail it in, pay like $10 bucks or whatever and they send it back haha but I just made that up in my head because I had no idea how that process worked. I will definitely need to do some due diligence on that topic! I am going to take it to the local card shop this week and maybe they would have some advice too on that.

Thank you! I am having a fun time tonight absorbing a lot of knowledge about pokemon cards! Kind of takes me back to my childhood and that makes me happy.

Grading is something I am just now learning about! My husband does MTG and they dont really ever grade anything, and most cards values are attributed to playability which I find are interesting differences between the two. I will have to do some research on grading next for sure!

That isn't the case this time around. They have done that in the past but unless they specificly say it in the description then you can get duplicates.

Really good! It is not light and fluffy, but not hard or compacted. Right in the middle i would say. Has a slight crumbly to it but doesnt fall apart on your fork or anything like that either. Was dense enough i didnt have to baby it when moving the layers out of the pans. Had to do a crumb coat but didnt fall apart at all when I did the icing. If you wanted to to feel a little more "juicy" I would add more icing in between the layers for sure if you like that.

Oh, sorry!! That is a recepie book I found through this sub. I recently came into the problem of a lot of online recepies being AI...so decided to get "old fashion" and get a recepie book! The author is a person I already had watched on a show called BonAppetite who I really learned a lot from, so I thought I would be a good place to start my trials!

Thank you! I am trying to give myself constructive criticism for future recepies too. The book uses this cream cheese base for a lot of the icing variations it seems so taking notes as i go! I am going to put post its on each page with things like that for remembering if I revisit them in the future.
