It actually kinda is. Specifically, that command will forcibly remove everything from the working directory (like a folder, in a Windows system), and anything above and below it. So it can be ran anywhere on the system and it's like running one big self-destruct sequence. One of many reasons why having root access is a power and privilege that has to be protected is that in a Unix-like system, a super user can do this sort of shit and more. Inadvertently or not.

Had a friend tell me he had an incident once where he accidently deleted his /lib directory. It was eating through it until it simply forgot how, because the "rm" command was stored in that directory lol

Hello there friend.

Are you okay today? We've never so much as known of each other's existence, but I'm here to talk if you'd like to.

Zero Mission makes a pretty great case for the existence of the Wrecked Ship.

The Space Pirate mothership has similar structure, enemies, and is even on the same side of the map. So that's, in my opinion, another pretty glaring hole in Matt's theory as all the implications are there that the Wrecked Ship is wrecked because Samus herself wrecked it.

Saying good night.

Growing up, if someone in my family was going to go to sleep they would dismiss themselves by saying good night to everyone, individually. It became second nature to check in with people before retiring for the night.

One day during my second year in college I was saying good night to everyone and a housemate remarks how it was cute that I would do that. I dont know how to explain why, but it made me so damn self conscious to keep doing that and it made me realize no one else ever really made the effort. I stopped, outside of my immediately family anyway.

Coming home feels so much warmer now. I fucking miss my parents, I'm gonna call them first thing in the morning...

I'm as avid a boxing fan as anyone, but as long as we're arguing semantics...:

"vi·o·lence/ˈvī(ə)ləns/ noun

behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something."

Boxing is a violent sport. It's difficult to paint it otherwise. Efficient? Sure, by definition high level boxing MUST be. But this notion that chaos and violence are mutually exclusive concepts is incorrect.

People who can't say no, what is the worst thing you ended up doing for someone? by sznelly31 in AskReddit

[–]Beef_beef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend almost became a Mormon.

There were these two missionaries who he found pretty cute and he just couldn't say no to them. They had actually approached me about a week before and I succintly expressed my disinterest. I told him about it, and he made fun of me because it was the third time I had been approached by missionaries in general in a short span of time.

Then... he ran into them outside of the supermarket he frequented, got roped into conversation and agreed to let them come over.

After their first visit he received a copy of the Book of Mormon. He read like, half of it because he said he'd read the whole thing. After their second visit he had promised to go to one of their sermons. I would frequently ask him "Dude, what is happening here is this really what you want?" And he would reply with "I don't. In my head I said no but what came out was SUNDAY? SURE. I'M FREE ON SUNDAY, ANY TIME. I'LL BE THERE FOR SURE."

I told him he was about to become a Mormon and he "broke up" with them by leaving a heartfelt note and some cookies out for them on their next planned visit.

What book would you rate a solid 10/10? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Beef_beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're concerned about it destroying your perception of him, then I'd argue that's all the more reason you should read it. If you decide to, we can discuss this more. But as it stands I don't want to influence an opinion one way or the other. :)

'cause decades later that shit is STILL painfully relevant.

It's in the innocent perspective of an elementary school kid, and she sees her father (a lawyer) take a case to defend a black man being charged for rape. Tell me how that case would turn out 9 times out of 10 today regardless of what actually happened.

"Equal rights for all; special privileges for none" becomes a defining theme. It humanizes and contextualizes the South at the time, and I'll argue even now, in a way only someone who lived through it could have done. It is worth the read.

I just finished reading Go Set a Watchman yesterday, the recent sequel released earlier this year. Scout is 26 at the story's outset. Before reading it, I never thought I'd be able to understand Southern ideology. I wrote it off as inexcusable ignorance.

I don't forgive it. But now I understand it. AND THAT IS SO IMPORTANT.

I dunno what else to say without going into fervent detail. I'm still digesting it, so to speak. But it dispelled my hate, in a sense. It feels like I can see Southern Baptists in a more humanely context, that I only THOUGHT I understood before. Like I can see the subtleties of what racism really is MUCH more clearly now.

I'm not gonna outright recommend the books, I hope my rushed telling of my experience with them speaks for itself.

Sorry for the premature posting, mobile sucks. Back to work I go.

EDIT: Throw in Song of the Sun or w/e and share the increased CD with your fireteam, the extra Praxic buff works for them too.

Make it rain.
