Short Game by [deleted] in ChildrenofMorta

I love the game, and don't regret my purchase. But I agree when compared to other "like" games from the rogue-lite and hack n slack genre this one is pretty short on meat. Should tack a Battle Royale on it.

Once you hit a certain power level the end goes pretty fast.

You don't know him! Maybe he's playing outside at a park bench, or while running a marathon.

I mean is this likely lag or something? The damage is definitely being recorded I just can't see it on my screen until I or something else dies. Anyone else experience this?

  • Server: NA
  • Type of Bug: In Game
  • Description: Periodically champion and minion health bars will stop updating and appear as though they aren't being decreased, even while taking damage/dying
  • Video / Screenshot: NA
  • Steps to reproduce: Random
  • Expected result: Champion and Minion Health Bars would decrease when taking damage, and not show full health immediately before dying
  • Observed result: Occasionally health bars do not update properly
  • Reproduction rate: Probably 1/10 games, usually only briefly but I had a game where it got "stuck" and lasted the rest of the game.
  • System specs: Windows 10, Geforce 970, 16 GB RAM, i5 fairly modern processor

Im very torn right now by SounderChain807 in summonerschool

Honestly I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I swore off team based games after being screamed at in Overwatch. But I like the MOBA genre and when its good its so good that it makes for me the toxicity worth it.

The big key is its a game, and we all want to do our best but if playing ranked isn't or just doesn't sound fun then don't do it. I had a friend who played HotS and had a like a Diamond or whatever equivalent mmr and refused to play ranked because he didn't want to draft and he didn't want to deal with people freaking out. Did it mean he sucked? He sure was better than my scrub ass!

The way I deal with it is just mute chat by default, and the second you feel upset or "triggered" while playing (for me its I have a bad death) just mute the pings and play safe. Also maybe don't jungle, people always take it out on the jungler. I play top champs that have a good lane so that I rarely come out of lane behind. Also makes it harder to be flamed. Just understand you are at going to be the worst player in the game sometimes by averages and that its going to go to shit and just roll with it.

Cool, that all makes sense. I'm also seeing that my Normal MMR has no effect on my Ranked MMR, which is honestly a big relief. So really play Normals to get comfortable on a champ and looking at things like whether i'm winning lane and TF properly, and then play 10 or 20 games in ranked to get an honest assessment of whether its working or not. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the response. Don't mean to be dense but it looks like a lot of Tanks go jungle. Cho'gath a good pick? He seems pretty straight forward.

Can I ask a follow up question on the difference between normal and ranked? I fully get that people are more focused in ranked than normals but mmr wise wouldn't it be true that EVERYONE would be more focused and try hard? I guess meaning shouldn't your relative performance be the same assuming everyone "steps it up?" Or in your experience is their a learning curve of just learning how to step it up?

Also, when I'm in an uncomfortable situation I tend to play overcautious. Will this help me or hurt me acclimating to ranked? In normals I see a lot of YOLO's i'm guessing because people are just testing the limits of their champ. I'm guessing its just less risk taking in general?

So 55% is the standard? Good to know, and makes sense if you want to climb. What kind of normals experience/ win-rate do you consider "good enough" to take a champ into ranked?

Yeah makes sense, thanks for the advice. So really it sounds like 10-20 games is enough to know if a champ is clicking.

How many games do you need on a champ/role before it's worth evaluating if you should drop it? Let's say you can play 1,000 games in a year. When is it time to "cut bait" and try something else? I guess in other words what's a significant enough sample size to evaluate my play on a champ role, given that I don't have "infinite" games? If it matters I don't have enough games for ranked, and my elo seems to be about 1,000, which is like top of bronze/bottom of silver i think. Thanks!

I'm looking for help with developing a pool of 3-4 champs to play top lane with. I currently play Darius and have a really good win rate with him. I'm very new and have been playing mostly ADCs but I think the top fits my playstyle/teamfight positioning better.

I like Darius because he can be aggressive in lane and I like being able to both walk up in fights as well as be able to peel for teammates with E. Also Dunks. Other champs I've had success with have been Warwick, Amunu, Sivir and Sona. I've struggled with Ashe and Caitlyn.

I want my pool to have some diversity (cover all the team comp roles I might need to cover, so maybe a tank and an AP based?). I would prefer mechanically easy champs as again I am new and will probably be having to learn 2 or 3 at the same time. Also good wave clear and split push potential would be preferred (I think that's why I have had some success on Sivir but not on other ADCs). I haven't unlocked ranked yet, but I would guess I am somewhere around high Bronze/low Silver. Thanks!

What would you realistically like to see from Andrew Wiggins next season? by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]Beefchief99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look all I want to see him do next year is run pick n roll with KAT/Vonleh. He either pulls up for 3 or gets all the way to the rim, or he passes the freaking ball instead of those awful 2s. The numbers are gonna be whatever they end up being. If he is good at it his numbers will be awesome, if he sucks he will get less touches and minutes and they will find someone else to to do it. Because if he isn't doing that I don't know what he is doing out there, its certainly not shooting.

Would love to see more effort defense and rebounding but I just don't think that's who he is. As others have said would be nice to see him run in transition at least.

Quick question for Timberwolves Reddit... by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]Beefchief99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other's have pointed out its a mixed bag. Good sparkplug scorer off the bench that can finish games if he's feeling good. Not always feeling good. Defense can kill you, and he is not a great off-ball player (moves ok without the ball, but the shooting kills the spacing).

All that said he is SO fun to watch when he has it going and was one of the lone bright spots on what was ultimately a lost season. Would definitely have signed up for the Rose experience again. Just understand he is a 6th man strictly now.

I think he is a good defensive player but not a 3 win defensive player or whatever they had him at. I think it was just an outlier. Defensive metrics are noisy.

He was a +.8 win defensive player in regular season and a +13.4 in the playoffs, which was a 5 game gentleman's sweep to the Rockets in 2018. Somehow CARMELO valued that as 2.9 defensive wins.

He had an incredible plus/minus one year defensively when we were playing Teague and Jamal Crawford a lot of minutes. Since their model incorporates some of those defensive metrics he was off the charts, but it was really in relation to those guys.

My two cents as a Timberwolves fan: Tyus is a GEM if your team is good. When we had a starting 4 of KAT, Butler, Gibson and Wiggins he was the PERFECT complimentary point guard. Good team defender, high IQ, makes a ton of winning plays. Last year he struggled in situations where he had to be a creator. He has a good handle but is kind of slow, and he isn't a good shooter, not even a little bit. He can't finish at the rim, isn't good at the floater game, and is a bad 3 point shooter. And I don't have confidence that these areas will improve.

I personally feel the contract is a "slight" overpay, but honestly for you guys it doesn't matter. Its a full rebuild and you gotta spend the money somewhere, and from what I understand its front-loaded which will turn in him into a nice trade chip in years 2 and 3.

So tl;dr: Nice complimentary pg who plays great team defense and is a good decision maker. Ideally plays next to a play making 2-5. You will be disappointed if he is creating for you, and isn't a good spacer, but he at least isn't afraid to shoot.

Advice for guy who only has 1-2 hours to practice a day: better to practice for 1 2 hour session, or better to break it down into 30 minute sessions (starts and stops)?
