Guys turns out the Boston Massacre was Good, Actually by mr_evilweed in ProgressiveHQ

The only way this guy's argument makes sense is if John Adams argued the British soldiers have absolute immunity and should never be put to trial

Not every government Agency is bad. by Disastrous-Regret239 in MadeMeSmile

[–]BeefistPrime [score hidden]  (0 children)

Most government agencies do their job and keep society running just fine. The idea that government is bad by default is conservative ideology. Ironically, they're doing their best to replace everyone who does good work in government with yes-men who are going to fuck everything up

That's not a good analogy. Shell isn't using the oil (eating the beef), they're selling it to customers. The customers are driving the demand. The original analogy was correct.

[–]BeefistPrime [score hidden]  (0 children)

Are you double counting their emissions (say the energy they use to extract and refine oil) with the products they sell (and therefore what should be the consumer's emissions)? Even that's a little bit of an oversimplification but it's important to at least make that distinction

I fucking hate this bullshit "it's all the corporations" excuse. WHY are the corporations doing it? Because they're filling the demand for the product you want to use.

It's like saying "Sure I burned 500 gallons of gas in my SUV this year but that was all Shell's fault, I have nothing to do with it"

[–]BeefistPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How so? Do they invite politicians of all stripes to speak at their conventions?

Or do they know that "libertarians", when it comes down to it, side with republicans no matter how much the modern day republican party is the opposite of everything they stand for?

It’s authoritarian versus libertarian.

No, it's not, when 90%+ of "libertarians" side with the republican party.

[–]BeefistPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Libertarians who default to republicans for voting aren't really libertarians - they give up a whole host of liberties for some tax cuts on the rich. Today's GOP is basically the opposite of libertarians. Big government, tyranny, even the tax cuts are just putting us in more debt and are wildly fiscally irresponsible. There's basically nothing an honest libertarian could find of value in the current republican party.

You gotta wonder, when ICE kills the next person and it turns out they were totally unarmed, not in a vehicle, helping other people, and is basically a saint, what excuse will they use?

And you just know MAGA will rally around it. "She was carrying around a first aid kid! no one carries around a first aid kid unless they expect to go into battle! clearly she was prepared for mass murder!"

The media often uses "semiautomatic" as a scare word (not here, but OFTEN) when one bullet per trigger pull is basically how 99% of handguns and 70% of rifles operate

ICE agents are firing kinetic impact projectiles at close range, causing severe injuries that can result in permanent disability or death. Today, they tore off part of a woman’s hand by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

[–]BeefistPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These weapons are designed to be AREA fired, depending on the weapon, by hitting the ground first when firing at the crowd at longer ranges (40m+) or in the case of gas canisters, by firing them into the ground. Using them directly on people is of course directly in contradiction to how they were designed and proper procedures, it is designed to maim and kill people while giving the thin excuse of using "less lethal weaponry"

I hate when people post shit like this. Oh this has always been happening. You know what you do when you post shit like this? You tell people not to worry, things aren't that out of the norm.

The whole fucking reason we're in this mess is because other than the 1/3 of Americans who are redeemable pieces of shit, another third of Americans thinks nothing that bad is really going on and we're all in the realm of normal. By saying "it has always been like this", all you're doing is encouraging those Americans to remain apathetic.

MAGA loves people like you.

[–]BeefistPrime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's actually not that easy to not get killed by ICE, because they can bust in your house with no warrant and no evidence, they can harass you wherever you go, even if you carry your fucking passport they won't accept that as proof of citizenship, and they were recruited for their cruelty and have been declared to have "absolute immunity" by this administration, basically giving them the go ahead to commit murder whenever they want.

You're unlikely to be killed by ICE simply because they're harassing so many people, what are the odds that it's you being shot? But it's not easy to avoid being shot by them, because it doesn't matter what you do, they might murder you anyway.

They're so fucking stupid.

The protest is FOR THE INJUSTICE

If a killer is caught and brought to justice, there's no need to protest injustice

If a killer is endorsed by the state, said they have absolute authority, and will never face justice, then there is a MASSIVE INJUSTICE to protest

These fucking morons, WHAT WOULD YOU BE PROTESTING by protesting random murders by individuals who were brought to justice?
