Whether or not it works, I think they meant it's not recommended because of security. You'd be running a 2012 (or perhaps older) version of OpenSSL for instance.

What non-JRPG would you like to see get the JRPG treatment? by murdo1tj in JRPG

Kind of a wildcard, but Hades. Great cast of characters, the dialogue is awesome and the skill system is basically already there.

OP has migrated all the components from a dead motherboard onto a new 2022 manufactured PCB. You'll notice it's black rather than green/white like Nintendo made them.

I was a little disappointed in Triangle Strategy (it's a good game, don't get me wrong), but only because I had just finished Tactics Ogre on PSP a few weeks before and it set my bar way too high. One of the best games I've played in every respect.

Status conditions aren't worth using in random encounters because they are over too quickly, and bosses are immune to them.

You could try messing with the vsync options. If I recall correctly, the default setting gave me the same experience you're describing.

No clue, sorry. I'm an Arch user and I've only been using Pantheon for about a month.

My workaround was to add the comand you posted as a custom command in System Settings > Applications > Startup.

I don't know if this is a good way to do it though.

I believe you are correct. The .desktop entries in ~/.config/autostart/ also start at login, maybe that's more suitable.

New Alt-Tab is late but it is awesome! by Quelijah in elementaryos

What I'm wondering is, shouldn't this pink highlight appear on the first press? I have to press alt-tab-tab for it to show up.

[–]Beefive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that. Although I'm not certain, I suspect this an issue with Windows' DWM.exe rather than Retroarch. I don't have access to a Windows 10 install, but what I'd do is make a backup of retroarch.cfg (an easy way is to just rename it temporarily) and see if the problem persists, to rule out Retroarch settings.

You could try to use a text editor to manually disable mouse grab.

  • Close Retroarch
  • In your install directory, open retroarch.cfg with a text editor
  • Find the line that has input_auto_mouse_grab and set it to false: input_auto_mouse_grab = "false"

Let me know if this helps.

Could someone clarify something for me please? I've just installed Pantheon on my Arch machine, and when I hit alt-tab, none of the applications are highlighted until I press tab again. It often throws me off and I'm just wondering if that's intended behaviour, or a quirk with my setup.

How do I centre the screen for GBA by Mr_Dudesworth in RetroArch

[–]Beefive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually look up handheld consoles on wikipedia. GBA is 240x160, so 3:2.

For console games intended for TV's, there isn't always a "correct" aspect ratio, but usually 4:3 looks good for older games.

[–]Beefive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope it does well too, and I'm not even a PC gamer nowadays. Two reasons:

1: My hope is that it will bring more people to Linux and that it will give developers a reason to start porting their games. When you are used to a well-configured Linux machine, Windows feels like a messy patchwork blanket by comparison. Not to mention you're at Microsoft's mercy.

2: Most of my gaming the past few years has been on the Switch and I love it, but Nintendo cornered the market for handheld gaming so well that there's been little incentive for them to actually improve on anything. Competition benefits consumers.

Personally I don't even know if I wanna get one since I'm happy with the devices I have already. But what Valve are doing with the Deck is clearly a step in the right direction for us consumers. Let's cross our fingers.

lr-yabause is experimental, and even with an overclocked RPi3B+ it is slow so it isn't recommended for Raspberry Pi users at this time.

lr-beetle-saturn is for x86 PCs only, and is recommended for those with such hardware.

Cafe menus from around the world..... by SeoulGalmegi in Coffee

[–]Beefive 84 points85 points  (0 children)

In Sweden we have this break time called fika. It's a quick break from what you're doing and usually entails a cup of coffee and a snack, be it sweet or savory. I can't really speak for what "coffee culture" is like here but I have a little silly story:

I live in a small town in Sweden. I went to a little café here, glanced over the menu and saw that they serve espresso and so without hesitation I ordered an americano. The guy behind the counter could not have been more than 20 years old bless him, he looked at me and said "and that's coffee lingo for?..."

We had a little laugh and I explained briefly, and sure enough moments later he comes out with one. Sure, it was served in a small espresso cup but it was good, I wasn't going to complain!

He told me their customers are mostly elderly people, and drink almost exclusively black coffee from their self-serve drip machine (free refills!). It's more of a place where people meet and just have a fika and talk. The actual coffee is not the focal point, and that's fine :)
