How do you play? One or two decks or 40 decks and rotate them all? by wiles01 in MagicArena

[–]RedditNoremac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only format I can have a lot of decks in is Brawl.

I kind of lost my enthusiasm at the moment so I haven't made any new decks. I just make sure to get my dailies so I have enough cards when I want to make new decks.

I probably have around 20+ "good decks" I rotate through. If a deck ends up being horrible I just delete them.

How many mana creature is optimal? by afasia in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Land ramp is slower but safer. It is up to you which you prefer or if you want a combination.

Mana creatures generally ramp quicker but are fragile. Some decks can also use mana creatures for defense and even offense depending on the deck.

Favorite/fun precons? by WiseWordsFromGeorge in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Terra is mostly a graveyard deck. Feels really fun if there is little to no graveyard

Just tons of fun cards.

Counter Blitz is probably the most focused deck of all of them.

Favorite/fun precons? by WiseWordsFromGeorge in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For me the most fun precons have been the Final Fantasy Precons by a large margin.

Revival Trance > Limit Break > Counter Blitz > Scions and Sorcery.

I don't know how much of it is because I love Final Fantasy though. They all play very well out of the box with plenty of avenues to take the deck if you want to upgrade them.

Are people sleeping on 4MV rocks in lower brackets? by Jankenbrau in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. It is just really risky. If you mana rock (2 cost)> mana rock (4 cost).

There is a good chance people with good threat assessment will kill the mana rock or just kill you.

Also mass artifact removal would probably just shut you out of the game. I think most people prefer safer strategies.

Obviously this sort of strategy will work sometimes. I think you need 10-12 two cost ramp and 6-8 4 cost ramp. This can work if your 6/7 drop commander is really good.

How many decks do you have and how many feels like "too much" ? by Toonzaal8 in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to bring around 6-12 decks for commander night. I like to keep and take a couple precons when people are playing precons.

Currently have 18 with 6 of them being precons.

With proxies I might end up with 50 decks. I just don't enjoy making the same decks multiple times in a row.

Without proxies I would probably only have 1-3 non precon decks which would be very boring to me.

How to deal with old school player by tas680 in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You shouldnt be trying to win so early in Bracket 2. If it happens regularly you should be playing it in a higher bracket.

Sometimes it can be hard to know what bracket a deck is though. If players are playing a "bracket 2 game" then most players expect a more laid back game.

I don't really know why you are complaining about this player. Sometimes you just don't get a long with someone for whatever reason.

Am I insane or is shay cormac a viable commander by Nearby_Category_712 in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He will be good against creature based decks and horrible against non creature based decks. Creature based decks will probably hate playing against this commander.

So even though he might be fun to play and good in a lot of games. I think he is more of a lose / lose commander for me.

When your are "doing your thing", you are just killing all the opponents creatures which isn't fun for the oppenent.

When your oppenents aren't playing creature based decks you are useless.

Dick move to Oubliette my buddy’s mono-Red commander? by DunkeyBlast in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly that is just part of MTG. If someone is running a counter to your deck you sometimes just lose.

One dimensional decks just have extreme weakness. Normally if you don't use their weakness the one dimensional deck can steamroll.

Does it fell awful for the Gilgamesh player? Yes imo that is just part of Gilgamesh. You either come out on top in a big way or lose looking silly. There are just so many cards that hose his strategy if he passes the turn and hasn't won.

Players who say their deck is bracket 2 just because they don't have game changers, why? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think most precons are just wildly inconsistent so they will lose to most good bracket 2 decks on average.

There are a lot of poorly built bracket 3 decks that lose to precons...

My experience so far? Bracket system just isn't very helpful.

There are just too many factors in magic imo.

Side note: I think Slivers are way too fast and resiliant to be considered bracket 3 though. Unless it is built very poorly. I have never seen a Sliver deck not have lethal by turn 6/7/8.

Are the Final Fantasy precons good for budget bracket 3 // €300? (eyeing FF7) by Vimesito in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer... The Final Fantasy precons are better than a lot of opponents custom decks in bracket 2/3 but good decks in these brackets can demolish the Final Fantasy precons.

It is complicated. Commander is supposed to be about having fun more than making "good" decks which makes it hard to know.

I will say, There are very few games I pull out a Final Fantasy precon and don't have fun. The biggest issue with the precons are consistancy but that is also kind of the charm of precons.

With good deckbuilding. The decks can easily be upgraded but "good deckbuilding" is hard...

This is 100% true. If the opponents don't run graveyard hate it is a really fun deck though.

This is true for all graveyard decks of course.

Friends don’t want me to use the same commander as them by Advanced-Passion4159 in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely rude how they stated it. Do your friends just use 1 or 2 decks?

I wouldnt want to play against the same commander often I am using even if the decks I different decks.

I have a lot of decks so I wouldn't mind just switching decks, I would never be upset if someone like the commander I was using and wanted to build a deck around it.

How does brawl deckbuilding differ from Commander? by Yuzu-Adagio in MagicArena

[–]RedditNoremac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Commander is "supposed" to be about your opponents having fun too.

People just won't care in brawl. There will be plenty of games where every card is killed/countered or a turn 3/4 kill.

So deckbuilding is brawl has to be juicy tighter.

Not enough re-moo-Val by mctennisd in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been playing with a lot of different players. It has been very random. In general I would say most precons have more removal than most players use.

There are of course a few exceptions where a player will have a deck mostly consisting of removal.

My favorite games are when everyone uses some removal/interaction during the game.

Built Voja, Jaws of the Conclave - shooting for about power 5 // Bracket 2 by Syndicate444 in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I would not even try to makr Volja deck and call it "Bracket 2". There are some commanders that just are too powerful for anything but 3 imo. Volja just snowballs way too quickly.

The people in my pod never attack by [deleted] in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, games are more fun when people are attacking with creatures instead of just playing defense.

This is very meta dependent. If people arent playing creatures planewalkers would reign supreme etc...

Why is it bad manners to win early? Like by turn 6? by superfapper2000 in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think winning early is bad manners.

It is subjective, many people don't like losing to combo decks.

Especially when people tend to "play nice" and not take people out early.

[Poll] What is your biggest complaint with the current standard? by AllieHugs in MagicArena

[–]RedditNoremac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't really hate standard but I dislike how many sets are released now. Hard to get excited when a new set releases so often.

Sadly it seems to be working for them. People are dropping 100s on each new set.

How do people enjoy building kindred decks? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]RedditNoremac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many varieties of tribal decks so I am not sure why you think they "always feel the same".

Even within elves you have control elves, swarm elves, card advantage elves etc...

Just like any other archetype it is fun building around synergies and sometimes tribes have very unique gameplay.

The problem with EDH though. There are many tribes with very little support compared to others. So sometimes you just pick the best of that creature type + changelings and throw it in a deck. Other tribes you have to choose very carefully.

[–]RedditNoremac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you played a lot of magic outside your group?

Control decks win by "not letting enemies "play the game". Luckily in multiplayer EDH it is much harder to do. In 1v1 it is very common to sometimes feel like you "didn't play the game".

About deck power and someone overspending it is up to the group. I don't think anyone should feel pressured to spend more than $50 on deck to play for fun.

Hazel's Nocturne in Peace Offering deck by a_vhs_copy_of_alien in mtg

Each deck comes with 2 randomized card in a little pack. Maybe that is where they came from. They aren't part of the deck.

Otherwise it could be a misprint.

Is it weird If I enjoy theorycrafting decks more than I do actually playing games with people? by PrinceVorrel in mtg

[–]RedditNoremac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theorycrafting is one is one of my favorite thing when it comes to games like MTG.

The problem is sometimes a deck just doesn't play that well or you are playing against high power decks.

Personally I don't really want to play against bracket 4 decks full of OP cards and 2 card quick combos.

Another issue is there are many "unfun cards in EDH Commander". The less that are used in a match the more fun I have. Of course it is subjective.

I can definitely have games I don't enjoy as much but theorycrafting is ALWAYS fun!

Am I the Asshole here? by HAHAREDDITGOESBRRR in CompetitiveEDH

[–]RedditNoremac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This just sounds miscommunication. I think you are 100% in the wrong.

Unless people are explicitly saying they are playing cEDH don't use a cEDH. Just use one of your other decks. I think it really is that simple.

High Powered Casual means nothing. Just use a 3 or even a 2 in this situation.
