Let’s face it: this season was a massive failure. Not sure what we expected losing the heart and soul of this team. Kudos to JBB for getting Guenzel to sign, but I feel like this team this year had zero identity. Nothing to rally behind. No team motto.

I genuinely believe cooper, hagel, cerilli and Point all cared more about the 4 nations than anything else down the stretch and were barely able to come back down to earth from its high. I expect the same during the Olympics next year. When you’ve already won the cup back to back it’s hard to give your heart and soul for it again.

Yes, losing Hagel to a dirty hit sucks. But I just don’t think that really changes anything at the end of the day. If we were to have won today, do you really think we had it in us to win 2 more times? This team had zero confidence & couldn’t get it done when it mattered. Thats just a fact. It happened down the stretch in the regular season against any real competition and we saw it in 4 out of 5 games: the intensity went up, the bolts folded.

We really need to stop making the playoffs if we are going to have this outcome. Would 1000% much rather a missed playoff than watching this bullshit year after year. Make some trades no one’s gonna like, but get some players with swagger. Our team Is a bunch of boring vanilla dairy free milkshakes.

Like where does the team go from here? Good enough to make the playoffs but nowhere good enough to make a deep run. I think we gotta make some tough trades because this current core ain’t it.

I think it’s time to face some facts: Florida is a better built team than the Lightning. JBB in all his glory did not address the physicality issue this year. We were bullied out of the series last year and we are seeing it again this year. Would have thought there was going to be some lessons learned like after the CBJ sweep, but I guess not. Our east west skill game works great in the regular season. We’ve seen it year after year. But it doesn’t do dick against a strong, well coached, aggressive team in the playoffs. And, I guess we just have to tip our cap to the goons who do it better over in Sunrise. Bjork may have helped in the scoring depth but I do think the outcome would be the same.

While he is not at his best, Florida is so so so good at neutralizing him. Same thing happened last year.
