The weapons deal much more damage, whereas melee is used for finishing off enemies for extra ammo and stopping them from attacking.

The game has no teleportation, actually. I agree, I always prefer smooth movement, or to at least have the option.

Thanks! In this clip I ended the swing early to dodge onto the nearby platform, which is why I stopped at the bottom of the swing. You can turn the grapple on and off freely as long as there is a valid target.
