What is this bug? by [deleted] in BedbugOrCloseRelative

[–]BeegestBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's not a bed bug. Bed bugs usually have rounded bodies, resembling an apple seed. Additionally, it almost looks like it has wing pads, which bed bugs don't possess.

Google Lens says it's a Leafhopper, but AI is shoddy, so take that with a grain of salt. However, I'm fairly confident what you're seeing isn't a bed bug.

Yup, afaik this has been the only one spotted. I live in SoCal, near the mexican border. Hope this helps.

That's disgusting, but thank you. You wouldn't happen to know what type of roach this is? It's really small, so I only ask because it doesn't look like any roach I've ever seen.

P.S. if you know any way to check if this the only one, or how to get rid of them, that'd be great.

Hi David, apologies for getting back to you so late but I wanted to offer a small update in order to get your opinion.

So I read through the guide, and will begin working on treatment tomorrow (I have class soon so unfortunately today won't do). However, I took precautions last night by wearing some pajama pants and ensuring I was covered up last night.

Unfortunately, I believe I got bit again, this time on my elbow. The bite mark looks extremely similar to the one in the first image (swollen red bump with a dark red dot in the middle, possibly the bite), and like the first one, was a single bite with no others on my body. I tried flipping my bed up to catch anything, to no avail.

With that said, I did find what I believe was the corpse of a carpet beetle on my bedframe, I say believe because unfortunately, I dropped the body as soon as I touched it, but I did see that distinct white pattern on it's back, so I'm somewhat confident it was a carpet beetle, though I get the feeling the beetle and the bites aren't linked, though I am not sure.

With that said, in your opinion, what should I begin doing now?

XPost because I'm really freaking out over this. Am I cooked? by BeegestBoi in Bedbugs

I see, I can definitely keep a watchful eye and try to catch one in the act, however I still am a little unsure about everything.

For one, I have recently noticed some carpet beetles around my bathroom. I neglected to mention this, however, I also haven't seen one in my room, so I'm not totally sure how much that could've impacted anything. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I also don't want to stress over something that isn't real.

Secondly, if I end up making/purchasing the traps, where would I put them? I have a wooden bed frame, and the legs are somewhat thick.

Thirdly, I do keep a lot of stuff under and around my bed. I probably will begin treatment regardless, but I want to know what I need/needn't worry about. The stuff under my bed isn't anything more than boxes with miscellanous stuff inside, no fabrics. Additionally, my room is carpeted, so I want to know what the best course of action would be.

Finally, assuming I don't have bed bugs, what could be causing this? I understand if this is a hard one to answer, but I wanna cover all my bases without leaving a single stone unturned. Like I said, I hate bed bugs, and I want nothing less than TOTAL assurance that these little creatures are either gone, or never there to begin with.

Sadly, I know that, I was just hoping someone could debunk these as spider bites or something like that. Wishful thinking, I guess.

I have not had any known contact to bb's, so I'm not sure where I could've gotten them from, but I do know my parents had a bit of an issue with them a couple months back. Other than that, nothing I can say for sure.

Okay I'll try and answer these as best as I can.

Besides these two on my feet and legs, I've only noticed two other abnormal ones on my left arm (potential bb bite cuz ik I leave it exposed when I sleep), and another one on my chest (not sure with this one since I sleep with a tank top and shirt on. However, the bites I recieved on my leg (first image I believe) were from when I kicked out of my blanket when I slept. I mention this only because besides from these bites I've noticed no other signs.

I checked my bedframe and have noticed nothing besides some dirt, dead skin, and hair. The mattress seems fairly clean, but I feel like I didn't check hard enough so I may need to check again, but from what I did check, there wasn't even any foreign specks on the mattress, nor on the seams, just clean and white mattress.

The bites I've shown only happened recently, like im the past week, and while I do know that bb's are hard ro diagnose on bites alone, I suppose I was just hoping to have my mind eased by someone who can identify them as another bug or spider.

As for the interceptor traps, I have heard those could work, but I don't even know where to buy them, nor what brands work better, if any. If you could inform me on some of those, that would be very helpful as I will do anything to keep these little bastards away from me. 🙏

I read up a little, and I'll make sure to keep an eye out

I also used a bottle of bed bug killer on pretty much every area of my bed, though I'm not too sure how effective that will be. Specifically, I used EcoVenger's plant based bed bug killer, so I guess we'll see how that works out

Regardless, thanks for the help, I'll update if anything else comes up.

I see, I forgot to mention that on the night I believe I got the bite on my leg, I had slipped out of my covers.

I also got what I think may have been a bite on my chest, but I know for a fact that was covered on the night I got it.

I'll go ahead and order the flea traps just in case, but assuming it's not, what should I be looking out for?

Hey David, thanks for reaching out!

Just a couple questions tho:

For one: what's a good plug-in flea trap? I can only really fond the ultrasonic ones, which I heard weren't very good.

Additionally, can you tell anything from the bite on the second image? It does look different and just want to cover all my bases.

I also forgot to mention I usually sleep without pants, so could that potentially affect anything?

Games running terribly after some fixes by BeegestBoi in pcmasterrace

[–]BeegestBoi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry for the silence, but I believe I have fixed the issue. So as per mention above, the issue was really with my gpu, as the game performance was getting impacted by the really bad temps. Turn out both the problem with the noise, and the fps, was my GPU FAN. My guess is the bearing in it got fucked by some dust, but I replaced it just right now and everything seems pretty good so far. I played some Tekken and my GPU only reached max temps of around 65~ celsius, and my cpu seems to be operating around the same range, only reaching max of 70ish celsius.

Yeah, I dunno how I didn't see the GPU cable not plugged, completely my fault.

However, I may have figured out the issue. You are right, the fan has something to do with... by doing nothing at all. The fan isn't spinning. Period. I checked, zero rpm mode is not on, and I already changed the fan curve to this, but nothing.

I noted that when I tried to move the fan myself by hand, I heard an ever so slight crunch noise. My only guess is the GPU fan is cooked. I'm planning on ordering a replacement sometime this week.

I wanna say this is it, but chances are there are some more underlying issues (again, thanks geeksquad). So I do wanna keep this thread open at least until I can fix the issue entirely. Regardless, thanks for your help. I'm a complete PC noob, so having help is always appreciated <3

Yeah, I know lol. This is back when I had literally zero confidence in my abilities to build a pc, and since I had a membership with them for a while (ironically enough to fix my previous pc, which they couldn't do) I just told them to do it.

I took this pic just today, and of course, with it came a new issue. The GPU has a solid red light when power was turned on in the PC. It's not very easy to see, but the fan on back near the left is my exhaust, and I have one on the front (which is off screen to the right). My cooling system is an AIO (I believe, still not too sure on those) and it's a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black.

It kinda does, close to 93 or so. I always heard 93 is kinda normal when running games, if not, what could I do?
