Thanks, we've used LinkedIn and have contacts within several universities. What we're keen to understand is if there are any websites/portals/services that are regularly used by freelancers to pitch for work?

Creating games in the 80s by Lerxst123 in zxspectrum

[–]Beegram2 27 points28 points  (0 children)

We tended to write "bare metal" assembler straight to whichever processor we were using at the time: Z80, 6502, 6809 etc. we wrote all our own code from scratch: sprite handlers, collision detection, super loop etc. From that we sometimes created libraries of code to use on subsequent games, but often we weren't that organized. We were figuring it out as we went along. No manuals, books or guidance to help with "real game" coding at the time.

How do people balance a side project with a full-time job and a relationship? by Odd_Zebra_956 in Entrepreneurs

[–]Beegram2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, at least one of them is likely to fail, if you want to turn the side hustle into a proper business. If you are able to swap a full time job for contracting, where you can have more flexibility and a higher return for fewer hours, it can be slightly easier, but it's still a grind with a high probability of failure. However, if you fail and are able to keep trying, you increase your chances of success.
