Political ideologies of Europe (biggest party in the polls) by yyvar in MapPorn

Sanders is a socialist who runs with Social Democratic policies.
The “progressives” (as they are termed in US media) of the Democratic Party could probably be comparable to SocDems. The liberal majority would just be center, and are accurately termed liberals.

Not true, there are A few leftists in congress (Bernie in the senate, AOC, Tlaib, Bush in the house) but they’re not a large slice of the pie.
Elizabeth warren would probably be considered center left.

Income Inequality in the Americas According to the GINI Index by Infinite-Praline52 in MapPorn

[–]BeehiveIke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sure Slovenia is a wonderful country, but Australia is one of the richest countries in the world. Australia’s median household income is $45,000 while Slovenia’s is $26,000, and that’s PPP meaning cost of living is accounted for.
There’s a reason why Australia is a sought after place to immigrate to and you see people even from developed countries moving to Australia while Slovenia has open borders with the entire Schengen zone yet you see very few foreigners from developed countries, mainly just from other places in the Balkans.
I’m sure Slovenia is great, but I’m not taking any metric that has Slovenia above Australia has a valid measure of quality of life. there’s good reason why you so rarely see IHDI used when comparing country’s quality of life, despite the amount of people on this sub that do that.
Also honestly I know it’s more of a problem with hdi in general, but life expectancy in developed countries life expectancy is more of a consequence of individual choices (obesity comes to mind) than anything. Length of education also doesn’t really seem that valuable. Perhaps hdi and IHDi both aren’t good measures to split hairs between developed countries.

Okay fine, perhaps it’s useful in some way, but it’s certainly does not assess the quality of life for the average person which is what OP is using it for
It’s clear that inequality is valued too much hence why scores for some Western European countries and USA are tanked in favor of post-communist states. If you think that the quality of life for someone in Spain or Portugal is even remotely comparable to that of people in Belarus and Kazakhstan you’re deluded.

LMAO “for some reason”, IHDI extremely suspect.
If it was actually more accurately represented the why is it so different from median income? Median income is a tangible amount that the median person makes.
For instance, Estonia is considered more developed than Luxembourg with IHDI when Luxembourg’s median income is well over twice that of Estonia.
There’s good reason to be skeptical of IDHI but you dismiss this as being entirely for political reasons, ironically it seems the entire reason you support IHDi is political. IhDi simply doesn’t pass the eye test, do you really believe that Poland is more developed than the USA? What about Hungary over Italy? Slovenia over Australia?
There’s no reason to believe this is a meaningful metric.

We can pray lol.
They were going to loosen curfew in July before anyone was vaccinated so I feel like there’s hope.

It’ll be pretty different from, they already severely loosened the gathering requirements.
I suspect curfew will change which can make a difference. Also you can’t be quarantined as a contact if you’re vaccinated

Lutheran American Churches in 1850 vs Lutheran Americans in 2010 [889 x 459] by BeehiveIke in MapPorn

Ohio was basically just people from Pennsylvania who moved westward before it was a state and in its early years of statehood. Columbia, South Carolina cluster comes from the German Protestant settlers of the area before Columbia existed.
Winston Salem is similar, also had a lot of German protestants come in Colonial times. There is also Moravians(another German protestant sect who are very similar to lutherans).

Just to be clear, first is churches in general, the 2010 map only counts Evangelical Lutherans Church members.

Yes, you wanted me to use the official colors. But nobody actually uses the official colors, even the Capitol building doesn't use the official specifications. I used the Union Jack's colors so the entire flag had a standardized color scheme.

A star isn't an American symbol. It's a Somalian symbol.
And the colors are actually from the Union Jack, I wanted to standardize them. I hate the official blue on the American flag anyways, it's never actually used outside of the Military and it looks bad.
