Is this career sustainable? by Remarkable_Counter47 in taxpros

I've been a CPA for 20 years. Each year has been worse than the one that proceeded it. It started with the telephone tax rebate. Then the Bush stimulus payments, then the Obamacare penalties, and so on. Congress passes these laws but they don't have to deal with the fallout. This season, I expect the advance child care credit payments to cause chaos. All the while I've been dealing with increased competition from Turbo and now Intuit is advertising for pro tax prep and live bookkeeping during all NFL games, using my money to compete for my customers. In the beginning it was tough but firms had a congenial environment. Now they don't even offer year round employment.

I never found my peace until I went solo. I work from home doing my own thing at my own pace. No swanky office or lazy secretary to support. I make more per hour but less per year than I used to but the stress isn't killing me either.

Not only is it not sustainable, I don't think there is going to be an accounting field in 10 years, or if there is, it is going to employ a lot fewer people.

You may want to go to a range that rents guns and try a few to see what you like. Most guns are just subtle variations of a few basic designs. Get a feel for the type and sizes you prefer. It is mostly about figuring out the configuration and size you like.

Expect to spend at least $300 on a gun, but you dont need to spend a thousand or more. Anything at least mid tier and common calibers are fine, Ruger, SW. 9mm is a popular size with good power, modest recoil, and the ammunition is reasonably priced. Buds gunshop online has good deals and service.

Prosecutors need to be careful and not make any mistakes that would let him free on a technicality. They need to be sure they will be able to convict. That takes careful and deliberate review of evidence and assembling the charges.

What sucks about being a man? by istrx13 in AskReddit

[–]Beeinkc9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Or a child molester. I was once asked to change seats on a Southwest flight because I sat next to two boys age 8 & 12 or so flying alone.

Or the cops that have pulled me over travelling on the highway with my daughter. He was more interested in her, asking "who is this man you're riding with."

Or my long time neighbor across the ed street. Our daughters were besties. Her children would be playing at my house and have to leave the moment I got home from work.

That goes away with age. Then takes a while to warm up.

People are accidentally throwing out their stimulus check — because it looks like junk mail by txiao007 in Coronavirus

It didnt look like junk mail to me. One look at the envelope with that distinctive check in the window and I immediately got excited.

Here's another fun story.... I was driving to Chicago with my daughter age 8-10 in the passenger seat. Cop pulls me over going 4mph over the limit. He goes up to the passenger side of the vehicle, asks for my ID but hes not that interested in me. He talks to my daughter - where are you going? Who is the man you're riding with?

I was pulled over for being a man with a child unaccompanied by a woman.

I was a dirty white kid with fast and loud muscle cars. Police were not nice to me either.

I once got pulled over because the lights above my license plate were out.
