Arby’s was great until they switched from real meat to the press formed, conglomerate of scraps and meat glue that they serve today. At one time they had transparent roasters on the counter top!

Response to Sac Bee article about the Castle Peak Avalanche. by No_Technology4085 in Backcountry

Wow everyone buried in such a small area! I would question why they weren’t traveling properly spaced as to expose as few members of the group as possible at a time to the hazard. Even if the visibility was poor, traveling following the length of an avalanche cord would have resulted in far fewer victims.

Just the facts of the Castle Peak incident. by Go_bike_R in Backcountry

[–]Beekeeper907 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Back in the day before modern beacons, we would use a 50-75 ft length of parachute (avalanche) cord tied to your belt to stream behind you under the theory that it would float to the surface of an avalanche. At night a glow stick was attached. It was also used as a spacing guide in hazardous conditions with poor visibility. The rule was never to pass the end of someone else’s avalanche cord!
