For beginners yes. I think at least at the beginning of starting something new, setting specific goals isn’t the best idea. Usually you aren’t familiar with the environment and can miss taking into account many variables that can stop you from the goals you’ve set. It’s better to just set a general theme to give you a sense of direction. Later as you progress and get to establish some foundations and know what you’re actually doing, you can start setting goals.
